Newb Grouping Questions

Postby Langston » Sat Nov 06, 2004 9:50 am

Since Horde and Alliance can't group till you learn a common language, I have a couple of questions:

1) How do you learn languages?

2) What is the "common" languages that people will learn to communicate with each other?

3) Even if you are of the same faction, your starting cities could be quite far apart. Is there a way by which you can quickly get to other similarly-aligned faction areas... such as, is there an easy/quick way for a Night Elf to get to the Human newb area?

4) Once you leave your race's newb area, are there newb quests that you can perform (for gear, exp, etc) in another race's newb area or are newb quests race-specific?

1) You can never group alliance and horde.

2) There isn't one.

3) High level escort might work.

4) you can do most newbie area quests with any of the same faction.

wtf... I guess I misread the website... I thought that this:

Horde and Alliance players are unable to group/party with each other, trade, create guilds, or even talk to each other unless both players have learned a common language.

meant that you couldn't do any of those things unless you had a common language. Damn dangling participles...

So, if this is the case, an Alliance character will NEVER group with, or guild with, a shaman character? How does this work for raiding? Two guilds working together?

Just as one of the Horde can never group with a paladin.

I think there might have been plans or maybe still are plans to be able to learn more languages.

As it stands now(or at least since I played) it was impossible to do so.

Just think of the Alliance as a larger, dumb group of newbies... and also 'the enemy'. Like, how the NAACP thinks of whites.

Undead start out being able to speak the common alliance language, they're the only race that gets that ability. They've talked a bit before about being able to make it possible to learn languages in game, but there's been no sign of it so far, so dunno if it's ever going to happen for real. Also, even undead can only communicate with the alliance with Says, pretty much.

The two factions can never group with each other, nor can you heal or buff someone from an opposing faction.
