anyone know which will be highest dps melee? I'm guessing one of the rogue/ranger subclasses? Did anyone in beta get above 20 so they could check this out?
One more question, are rangers heavily dependent on their bows at lower levels? Or are they mostly 1hs etc until they get to higher levels?

Have not seen any parses, but assassins are believed to do the most DPS. The other scout classes are close though except bards, but bards are still well above the fighter classes (yes bards are dps in eq2).
Rangers use bows all the time for nice damage. They get special and positional attacks with them too fairly early like headshot (ignores armour) and backshot. Rangers are a bit tough to play at first because they are expensive. Arrows and poison costs add up so you will be broke till about 30 but then it gets better.
