If you can afford it, I'd HIGHLY suggest getting a 6800 GT 256 Meg card.
Your system is fine, and that card would set you on the top tier for the next year, easily.

Purely awe inspiring...

What quality settings will I be able to run EQ2 on? Also, I've been thinking about getting one of the new Nvidia cards in the near future for EQ2 and HL2, anyone have one of these and care to comment?
Naginataka wrote:I ran EQ2 in beta on a 9700 pro till my computer fried 2 weeks ago. I didn't have any problems. The 9700 pro is not far below the 9800. I couldn't max it out but I could keep things fairly high.
That said, the new card I have is the nvidia 6800 (no not the GT ) and the game looked AWESOME. Also teh NVidia cards are very easy to OC and add more cooling to. I have been playing a little farcry while I wait for live with everything maxxed and unless there are 5 guys and grenades going off I get no lag at all.
Even with the best card you have to tweak it. EQ2 takes alot more effort to get balanced on your system. WOW is pretty low intensity graphics so you can pretty much crank it up and leave it. EQ2 you have to play around alot. I kept shadows off and the close detailed models to 5 and have no problem in crowds.
IMO always turn shadows off. They SUCK your card dry.
If EQ2 runs half as good as WoW did on my system, I'll be pretty happy. WoW ran flawless, I was pretty damn surprised.
