Blow Up
The film Blow Up is meant not to convey a single story, as are many films today, but is representative of the creative process of the director, Michelangelo Antonioni, who is represented by the character of the photographer in the film.
The photographer, when meeting his abstract artist friend, is told by the artist that when doing one of his paintings, he isn’t aware of what he’s making, that it’s all a mess. After he’s done he finds something to latch onto, and it all comes together. “It’s like finding a clue in a detective story.” He says. This is a direct representation of how the director feels about his work, and also a reference towards what the viewer will see later in the film.
