My friends are playing on the good side, but I want to be an
assassin...
soo I guess I have to start out in Freeport then do the betrayal quest... Once I complete the quest I become a citizen of qeynos right?
Ok, so once that is done how to do I practice my assasin crap? Will I be able to do everything I need in Qeynos? Will I still have access to freeport?
What are the pros and cons of doing this ?
Thx.

The con is you cannot become an assassin living in Qeynos. You need to betray before your final class pick.
You can still play with your friends, but the first 20 levels it will be more trouble than it is worth. After that you will start to go to the same zones.
The con of the betrayal quest
Lost shard meaning gimp for 3 days, having to sneak through lvl 25+ KOS zone while you are max lvl 17.
Horrible quest to get citizenship in new town including killing 5 named on 8 hour timers and 500 gnolls.
Select teh wrong choice and you add a 3 gold fine to that requirement.
No bank, training, tradeskills, buying etc until the quest is done.
No leveling till the quest is done.

Ralf,
The Qeynos Ranger is very similar to an Assassin. Don't confuse EQ2 Ranger with EQ Ranger. They have nothing in common. The EQ2 Ranger is a damage dealing rogue archetype, not a gimped druid/warrior hybrid.
You can be an Assassin and still group and fight with people from the other city. You just can't do quests from that city, or have a house there.

Yup and it's the best thing they could have EVER done. There are still so many fucking idiots asking everyone to do everything for them. Go out and fucking explore you lazy asshole; that's what I like to say.

Fortunatetly, most of them will depart Nov 22 to a game more their speed and challenge level.
The game is wonderfully intuitive, and 99% of the problems are from idiots not understanding how to play, or not being able to fucking read.

thanks for the advice...
Well i have me a human named CapnJackk Sparrow on Permafrost... He'll be a swashbuckler for sure.
I plan on making an Ogre Brawler or ogre assassin on Mistmoore so I can screw around with the Nameless fewls.
So far I am very impressed with EQ2. Everything works really smoothly, the game looks beautiful. The decision to make every race be able to play every class was fucking fantastic. I am half tempted to make an Ogre or Troll wizard....
I am running it on a 2.4ghz dell, with 3/4 of a gig of DDR Ram, and a 256mb ATI Radeon 9550. No problems at all.
I was never a big fan of sony and did my share of bitching about EQ1, but they really came thru as far as I can see on EQ2.
I have no doubt that by the time the first expansion is out EQ2 will be the leader over Wow.

Do it. My troll bard rocks. He has almost as many hp as tanks his level, hits like atruck, and unless I have a shard out his power drain is managable.
