EQ2 and you.

Postby Tossica » Mon Nov 15, 2004 3:06 pm

What are your basic system specs and how does the game run for you?

I just ordered an upgrade because I felt like smashing my old setup when trying to play.

Athlon 1700
512MB ram
Radeon 9800XT 128

Runs like shit. I have to turn the performance down to "Extreme performance" in order to get a smooth framerate in Freeport. At that setting, there is little to no texture detail. Commonlands is "ok" up to "High performance" but if I try "Balanced" I am watching a slide show.

Hopefully new system will kick it in the ass a bit.

Athlon 3000+ 400MHZ FSB
1.5GB 400MHZ PC3200
same vid card.

Pentium 4 - 3.2gig chip
1 gig Atlas RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 (256 megs)
ASUS MB

I run the game with most of the *features* cranked up - and have zero problem. I'm only level 5 at the moment and still on the island screwing around, and last night spent the better part of 45 minutes turning up graphics trying to lag... but never did and that was with 30 people in the zone. Anyway, I know it'll be different in bigger zones with more people, or on actual raids - so till then I can only report what I am currently experiencing up to now.

Athlon 2800+
512MB RAM
Radeon 9000 128

I have a hard time with lag in South Qeynos. I also have setting on extreme performance and dislike the look.

I'm upgrading my RAM tonight to a gig and will post if it makes a difference as I'm thinking that's my major lag problem.

Card is gonna have to wait a few weeks for upgradeage.

I wish for 512 MB more, and I will be fine myself.

AMD 3200+
Nvidia 6800 Overclocked
1 gig ram

I play on balanced tith shadows turned off most of the time just because at that setting I almost never get low FPS.

High trafic fight areas I will turn it down one step, low traffic areas or soloing I will turn it up one or 2 steps.

2 ghz processor

256mb DDR ram (rofl)

radeon 9800 pro

I have every single setting turned down all the way, and i still freeze for 10 seconds with each step every time i go to FP.

commons i'm ok, no lag at all

dungeons lag me to fuck

getting 2 512 chips in 2 days, but so far getting to level 18 with 256mb of ram has been quite a pain in the backside.

2.8 P4 800Mhz front side bus
Radeon 9600 pro 128mb
512mb 2700 ram

Runs really well for about 1.5 hours, then ok for another 1.5 hours, then I have to restart or it takes over 5 minutes to zone and freezes a lot. I really need to get more ram sometime.

Bumping it from 512 to 1 GB is the biggest performance boost you can give aside from video.

I have a 9800 pro 256, 1 gb ram, p4 3.04. I run at 1280x1024 in balanced and then bump up all the water details. :) :) There's some chops here in there but mostly they happen only in the n/s/harbour of qeynos.

Yeah its the 512 killing you. My girlfriend's computer is right next to mine. Our computers are :

3 GHz P4
1 gig RAM
9800 Pro

Runs great, and :

2.8GHz P4
512 RAM
9800 Pro

Runs like shit. Sometimes a zone will take 2 minutes. Ive never seen a zone take over 20 seconds on the machine with the gig of ram.
You were right Tikker. We suck.

AMD 3500/ASUS 939 MOBO
2 Gig RAM
10k WD HDD
GT 6800 256M

I crank up 75% of the features and it cruises.

Shadows still eat my performance, as do high water textures

I upgraded to a gig of RAM tonight and was able to boost my video settings up a notch with very little problems. Zoning was a breeze and I didn't lag in town at all.

Great to read all of this. I'm picking up my new computer tomorrow.

P4 3Ghz
512RM
GF6800
I thought it would be enough ram but I guess I'll have to upgrade. Atleast it's a lot cheaper here in China compared to the US.

Athlon 2700 (2.2 GHZ)
1 gig Corsair XMS PC2700
Radeon 9800 XT (256MB)
Custom High Settings.

Runs decent. I turned on flora because I love the flowers, so that can slow me down just a tad in some of the bigger open areas. The cities so far have been great.

You scoff but in two years that'll prob be the lastest speed.

Seriously, you can tune settings and the game still looks and plays good.

I think the main things are to have a semi new PC, decent RAM, ensure you don't have a ton of spyware eating your PC, and to have a decent Graphics card. It runs fine on my second PC.

I also have flora and cloth turned on with my crappy card. The upgrade in RAM really makes a huge difference.

If you never move your case or anything else, why do your cables always get like that?

I suspect gremlins.

I actually move my case quite a bit... I have to take it downstairs to run it through my Projector so I can raid on my 98 inch movie screen...
