I tend to agree with Ugzug on this one mostly. The game is vastly different now then it was pre-Luclin. Yes, group dynamics are generally the same but its the expanded intricacies that have come out in the expansions you missed that are going to make you just another noob level 65 retard in BoT if you power-level up and don't take the time to actually learn what all the classes are capable of now. SK's and Paladins tank better the Warriors for XP groups, a decent bard can handle crowd control for your average XP group almost as well as an Enchanter, Rangers with certain AA's are actually sought after for groups for thier insane DPS and great pulling abilities. A lot has changed since Luclin came out... Maybe you'll be able to use what you remember from 3 years ago and catch up quick and not suck. Maybe You'll actually believe that anything you knew 3 years ago still means dick and you'll suck like 99.7% of all the other noobs in BoT.

What you have going for you is the fact that you admit you have a lot to learn about the new expansions. Up until the high levels the game really hasn't changed that much other then which zones are populated and which ones aren't. My recommendation would be to actually group up to 65. As much as I hate Dreadlands it is still populated and in the low 40's you'll not have much trouble finding groups there. Plane of Justice is good XP in the low 40's but its normally seriously over camped and theres honestly not much to pull. The area's that a 43 rogue can do in there are kind of limited and any more then 2-3 groups can clear the whole zone and keep it clear which means your waiting for mobs to spawn and racing to them when they do spawn. You might have some luck at the rockhopper caves in Dawnshroud peaks but thats normally camped by shard farming level 65's. Once you get up to level's 50+ Chardok is still good XP if you can find a good group to go with you and I've heard the revamped Droga is good as well.

If you are intent on Power-leveling just to get into the endgame then just put your rogue on autofollow behind the druid and kite in PoN/PoD like all the other druids do... If your going to suck you might as well suck with Style...

I've been levelling in some interesting area's. Gunthak was actually really good experience up to 45. There are also some really good quests

I am reading and learning about all the classes, and playing 4 different ones right now, so I think I'm getting a good angle on a few things. There are some additions,, ut this isn't rocket science, ya know. The game has gotten fundamentally easier. I levelled to 60 when it was tough and people didn't have silly stats and gear.

What made a good player in EQ <and DAOC, etc> was simply attention to detail and understanding the game. I've spent time talking with a lot of people <thanks to Snero, Toss, and a few others>.

A good bard has been able to handle crowd control well since before I quit. I helped level Taozhe to 60, and often was the CCer in Howling Stones or Sebilis, and never had an issue. As much as a goob as Shadowspear was, he was always better at CC than any Enchanter.

An SK/Pal has always been able to outaggro a Warrior, so that really hasn't changed. The gear is now silly compared to what it was when I played, but tanking is still tanking. Healing is still healing. CC is still CC.

Interestingly enough, I see the same problems in groups as I did before I left, which wasn't lack of knowledge, but simply AFKs and people not paying attention.

Outside of AAs, which as I've said I'm up to speed on, please explain to me these huge changes regarding the rogue class <or cleric class, or Druid Class> that I need to know not be 'n00blike'? Enlighten me. I already know all the spells, and I know the rogue from before, so tell me what's new to learn? Interestingly enough I took my cleric and druid into LDON on hard and our group won just fine....

Anyways, thanks again for the info.

Rogue n00b coming soon to a zone near you.

SK's and Paladins tank better the Warriors for XP groups

That has to be the dumbest thing you said Mhila. SKs and pallies will never tank better than a warrior, but they will always be able to agro better. There is a differenece in agroing and tanking, you should know this since you are a warrior if I am not mistaken.

And the game really hasnt changed that drastically to where someone that was in the high end of the game b4 couldnt quickly pick up where he left off and be back into the swing of things really fast.

Just because tricycles are a bit more complex looking doesn't mean they are harder to ride than a bicycle.

The game has gotten a fuckton easier, once you learn to play, there isn't much else to it.

I think they only AA that is a real game changer for rogues might be SoS & Escape. But Escape is situational and SoS... well yeah, thats sexy. Incredibly easier though. You can pretty much run to any spot in most any zone in the game with SoS. I've encountered only one mob that saw through it and it's location isn't somewhere that most visit =P

Hi

Post by Autu Matik »

I am another example of one such as yourself Lyion. In fact, I remember you from the Sanctuary of Steel vs Shinobis battle. Hope you had fun dying that day! :) Hehe - was all good fun, for sure.

Anyways, after quitting my wood elf warrior at 60 here I helped level an enchanter 1-63 on Vallon Zek, a SK from 1-50, and a bard 1-53 all when level 60 was the max. I quit at SoL like you, Lyion, for DAoC and SWG and real life and such.

Now, just like 2 months ago, I restarted on Maelin Starpyre with some old Nameless friends, and have been having a badass time. The game is still exactly the same. If you were skilled before, guess what, you'll catch on quick and be skilled yet again. Ignore those fucktards, EQ isn't that hard. I'm in the same boat. :) It's fun - my ranger is just now 57 and has better gear than my 60 warrior ever had (http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=914977). Halfling too! Also - I have been leveling myself using a friend's 65 cleric, with MoK and MoR as I'm sure you have been - I did DL and KC from 40-50, don't really recommend it, but its easy and goes pretty quick. I mixed in some Sebilis, a lil bit of Velks Lab, and once I was 52 got him POV flagged. Done a bunch of xping there, and been doing LDoN since 55. That'll about do it til 62-63ish til I get a BoT flag, then 65 is shoo-in.

If you get bored on Nameless, Maelin's fun as hell :p Welcome back.

Everyone is making it sound like EQ has radically changed

it hasn't

It's still about pulling mobs and killing them as fast as you can
the only really big difference since luclin, is the lull/pacify lines were restored to their previous overpowered state of the original EQ

Haha yes, yes, I was very noob back then:) When I went on my first raid with Scions of Veeshan at level 43 the raid leader said "everyone assist Ghazzkull" and I honestly had no clue what they were talking about:) Those were the fun days back when everything was new and exciting and I didn't read the spoilers for every battle before we tried it.

However, you don't remember Mhila from KC pre-luclin. I've created this charactor pre-Kunark but I got hit with the GM name nerf bat after luclin came out when some random GM happened to notice that I ws named after a real person... I believe I made it up to lvl 54-55 before I got caught...

Ugzugz wrote:I didn't ASSUME anything.

You have taken a "few years off" which means anything you USED to think you know doesn't pertain any more unless you were the type to hit "A" and walk away - which still works for 80% of the people in BoT (hence my comment).

You self admitedly haven't played the last "several" expansions - which, judging by the comments you've made means you really haven't played since Kunark... maybe Velious.

The game is vastly different now. Congratz you being good 3 years ago... that means shit now. You don't know crap about AA or the new melee skills. You don't know the zones... you just want to be PLed to 60 (where 65 is the cap now by the way) and expect people to give you the information to best make this as simple as possible. You plan on heading to the Hole and CoM... which by itself tells me how out of touch you are.

Just because I "won" Diablo2 3 years ago doesn't mean I know shit about the game today - yeah the controls are the same but the game is vastly different.

Respect the current gamers and educate yourself in more than "how do I get l33t fast!?!?".

I stand by my early statements. Learn the game - no one needs another ignorant player screwing shit up in their guild - enough of that exists already. Till you do that, PLEASE keep to the Hole and CoM so that you don't bother anyone else.

Ugzug.. dude. I serious wonder what the fuck your problem is sometimes. YOU DON'T PLAY ON THE NAMELESS ANYMORE. So stop cursing us with your pathetic presence. You turned a simple question into a pointless flame, so I'm going to leave you with something I found on worstofeq.

You ever had one of those poops where you get everything out, reach for the old loo roll, and realize you got another bomb to drop? And this last turd never falls easy - it goes down fighting. By the time you get done pushing, your rectum is so exhausted that you simply allow your ass to relax, and that small piece of brown pie is finally defeated by gravity, sloshing into the welcoming water below.

Victory, right? Oh nos, my friends, you see, as you relaxed your ass, the entire length of that final log smeared along your undersides, trailing a creamy crust behind, leaving you to bombard half a roll of toilet paper upon your bottom before you feel clean enough to pull up your pants.

Unfortunately for mankind, my ass isn't the only one with this issue. After spending several years with Ugzug on the nameless, I've discovered his brain works the same way! By the time he's done thinking, all that's left is the dirty crust, and his head is as tired as a hemorrhoid packed anus. Ugzug lives to be that final piece of shit - worthless and troublesome, leaving entrails of drama and revulsion behind him.

Yeah, I know he's transferred servers - but after all he's done, he deserves this tribute to his absurd conduct. Thanks for the memories Uggy. This one man has caused more conflict between guilds on the nameless than anyone else is my experience. He couldn’t lead a raid to save his life (Have fun getting booted from BoD’s leadership council?), and apparently his few friends became very accustomed to no slows in their groups – he’s too pro to take the time to actually contribute.

And man, you moved servers… move on, stop posting on nameless boards. This real life winner has around 3000 posts on the nameless tavern – filled with shitty one liners and throw away insults. I’m tired of reading your insignificant ramblings on topics far beyond your intellect. Please, leave room for the people sturdy enough to deal with the nameless. Your punk ass couldn’t keep up.

something in that sentence makes no fucking sense...and it was bothering me
