Why I'm conservative

You need to learn that you don't know everything about anything - let alone everything about everything. You need to learn that, despite YOUR beliefs, there are people that are JUST AS sure that what they believe is True and that, as was already said, neither side can be proven.
Religion is the Everyman's creation. He can use it for peace, solitude, causa belli, resistance, whatever suits his fancy. He can believe in it to the depths of the core of his being or he could pay it simple lip service while shouting at the top of his lungs diatribes against "non-believers".
Religion is what a man makes of it. Faith and Belief just Are.
Is there a True God? I, personally, believe that there is. Will anyone be able to prove that He exists? Probably not. Will anyone be able to prove *which* god is True? Probably Never. Don't confuse Religion with Faith and Belief. They are two separate things. At the end of the day, faith and belief can't be argued and can't be impressed.
I just can't believe you would defend such a bizarre cult as Catholicism... to each his own I guess...

Regarding the IHS, since you seem to really think that the Catholics are worshiping some Egyptian gods:
The rest of your statements I've said my piece and you can continue to say whatever you like. Fact of the matter is, you're wrong about the tenets of the Roman Catholic church. It, however, is not my duty to educate you. If you wish to remain ignorant, then by all means, do so at your leisure.

A monogram of the name of Jesus Christ. From the third century the names of our Saviour are sometimes shortened, particularly in Christian inscriptions (IH and XP, for Jesus and Christus). In the next century the "sigla" (chi-rho) occurs not only as an abbreviation but also as a symbol. From the beginning, however, in Christian inscriptions the nomina sacra, or names of Jesus Christ, were shortened by contraction, thus IC and XC or IHS and XPS for Iesous Christos. These Greek monograms continued to be used in Latin during the Middle Ages. Eventually the right meaning was lost, and erroneous interpretation of IHS led to the faulty orthography "Jhesus". In Latin the learned abbreviation IHC rarely occurs after the Carlovingian era. The mongram became more popular after the twelfth century when St. Bernard insisted much on devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus, and the fourteenth, when the founder of the Jesuati, Blessed John Colombini (d. 1367), usually wore it on his breast. Towards the close of the Middle Ages IHS became a symbol, quite like the chi-rho in the Constantinian period. Sometimes above the H appears a cross and underneath three nails, while the whole figure is surrounded by rays. IHS became the accepted iconographical characteristic of St. Vincent Ferrer (d. 1419) and of St. Bernardine of Siena (d. 1444). The latter holy missionary, at the end of his sermons, was wont to exhibit this monogram devoutly to his audience, for which some blamed him; he was even called before Martin V. St. Ignatius of Loyola adopted the monogram in his seal as general of the Society of Jesus (1541), and thus it became the emblem of his institute. IHS was sometimes wrongly understood as "Jesus Hominum (or Hierosolymae) Salvator", i.e. Jesus, the Saviour of men (or of Jerusalem=Hierosolyma).

Back to the original topic, I had a parent teacher conference at school today. I found out that 1/2 of the class leaves for an hour a week to go study the Bible. A full week. I told her that while I respected the school's decision to teach children the Bible, I wouldn't subject my son to that, because A.) I want to teach him religion on my own, and I wouldn't want some cultist telling my son what is right and what is wrong, and B.) Because I send my son to a public school to LEARN, not to study the Bible. She said all the teachers agreed.

IHS stands for the Egytptian Gods Isis, Horus, and Seb... not Jesus Christ. I refuse to argue with an uneducated person... it's much too frustrating. You pulled that bullshit off a Catholic site. BAAAAAH BAAAAH BAAAAAAH

I just can't believe you have the audacity to state that you know more about a denomination than a person that's actually lived it... I may have been one of few, but I actually had some respect for you when you first came back. Of course my respect means nothing to you, but it's still rather sad and pathetic to see someone shoot themself in the foot so many times so quickly. Enjoy your hard-headedness... I'm sure you'll make a ton of friends that way. Good day.
"Jared's off the diet?!" a California woman said incredulously. "It's suicide for me!"

It's pretty easy when you know the truth, and it makes it very easy to understand why and how a person got brainwashed...

Study of the Bible in public school as the text of one of the world's largest religions as well as a document of some amount of proven historical record and as a piece of literature is appropriate, in my mind. Study of the Bible as a method of instilling religious values and philosophy is not appropriate in public school.

I was a born again Christian at the age of 8, before I had any choice in the matter.
If GOd lets you into heaven, he must have lowered the standards.
This is a synopsis of Mindia's Christian Life
Day 1:
Mindia: Dear Lord, please accept me into your flock, and love me as I will devote the rest of my life loving you.
Preacher: Ok The lord said yes, but you have to go by what this here Bible says.
Mindia:No sex, drugs, rock n roll, bad language, and accept all. I can do that.
Day 2-12 go pretty normal
Day 13
My penor is engorged to a full 6 inches, I must convince my fiance that pre marital sex is okay as long as you plan on marrying that person.
Day 14
FUCK DAMN GOD DAMN DICK SUCKING COCK WHORE
Day 15
Mindia: Dear Lord I have fornicated and cursed, and used your name in vain, please forgive me and let me back into your fold.
Day 16-19 Everything is normal
Day 20
Get over here whore, and suck my cock, its engorged to its full extent of 6 inches again. While you are sucking it, I am going to the NT to post about how everyone is a bunch of pathetic losers and since they do not live their lives by my standards, they ARE ALL GOING TO HELL.
Day 21
I don't even need to ask for forgiveness for being a cusser, or a sinner, I will just save it all up and ask the Lord for forgiveness once a week. I mean, I am showing all of these internet junkies that their lives are miserable, so I will be his right hand man.

OK... this is truly my last post to you... and I only post because I'm incredulous that you can walk and chew gum at the same time.
Where should I have gotten information about the Catholic Church if not from a Catholic source? You think a Protestant church would have better information? What kind of stupid logic is that? What is YOUR source for this Egyptian bullshit? Let me guess.... some anti-Catholic website?
You know... I searched the internet and I discovered this:
Of course, the Baptists will tell you different though - but they're SHEEP!

A drunken man staggers in to a Catholic church and sits down in a confession box and says nothing. The bewildered priest cough to attract his attention, but still the man says nothing. The priest then knocks on the wall three times in a final attempt to get the man to speak. Finally, the drunk replies, "No use knocking, there's no paper in this one either."
