What I really want to know, is why he cares so much about it.
I know he's practically nearing a stroke every time he slams out another nearly propagandistic retort. Why? Did he invest his life savings into the outcome of this?
Bluray wins, you get Hi definition movies.
HDDVD wins, you get Hi definition movies.
Who gives a fuck which it is? It would be better for everyone if this "war" was over right now. Then all content would be on one medium...
I think CDs, DVDs, etc need to go the fucking way of the Dodo. Any kind of disc really...who wants to invest money on a medium that can be damaged so easily when there are much better alternatives?

Much more expensive alternatives you mean. Discs are cheap as hell to mass produce which is why we won't be seeing and legitimate alternatives anytime soon.

I'm not sure why Lyion cares so much as well. Tossica is actually arguing logically where as Lyion is just getting all temperamental.
PS3 isn't going to win this thing. We'll have to wait and see what does.

Thanks for parroting my comments in the last thread.
I've never said HD-DVD is the "winner" in all seriousness. I've said the battle hasn't even begun over and over again. YOU are the one claiming Blu-Ray victory because they happened to sell 60K copies of a movie that only sold 45K copies on HD-DVD. Sony is claiming victory over and over again based on bullshit hype.
Yes, I'll repeat it AGAIN. PEOPLE ARE RENTING AND WATCHING MOVIES ON THEIR PS3s. What people are NOT doing for the 3rd time, is BUYING A PS3 TO WATCH MOVIES. They buy it to play games and watch movies because there is fuck all for games to play on the thing.
No, I've been saying YOU don't know what the fuck you are talking about because you continue to post bullshit over and over again as fact and I continue to prove you wrong.
I love the "losing big bucks" argument. The fact that Sony is losing several hundreds of dollars on each PS3 is "good business" but if Toshiba takes a hit on hardware, it's out of desperation. Have you opened up an HD-DVD player? I'd be surprised if the actual cost of the HD-A2 is more than $50 in parts. $199 is the entry point RIGHT NOW, $99 is the entry point in Spring and at either price, there is profit to be made.
Uh huh... ok so now that you have been proven wrong once again and know that HD-DVD actually has MOST of the content, lets use Target as and example of Blu-Rays "domination". Yeah, Sony paid Target an undisclosed sum to push Blu-Ray hardware exclusively in their stores. Every store in my area that I have visited is almost 50/50 split between BR and HD-DVD except for Target. They have 10 BR titles and only 8 HD-DVD titles. Their HD section is pathetic and is hardly fuel for your "domination" theory. Walmart by me actually has about 4x as many HD films as BR now. Best Buy? Even split, Circuit City? Even, etc. More Lyion bullshit /yawn.
Pretty much everything else you posted was parroted from my earlier posts in the other thread. I'm glad you are finally starting to see the light. Sony isn't dominating ANYTHING at this point. They are getting their asses handed to them on the console market and their DOMINATING Blu-Ray format has had it's balls kicked up in to it's gut in the last two months by losing Paramount and now facing competing hardware at less than 1/2 the cost of their own.
The fight has only just begun.

Thats the problem, Zan. Toss isn't arguing logically. A lot of what he is saying is technically and sales based inaccurate, and I think he's doing it out of passion, not logic.
Saying HD had a great sales week and things are looking up is one thing. Proclaiming victory because Toshiba had a fire sale to dump some of it's last generation product which hadn't moved at all, while the format you support is being outsold 2 to 1 and has no hook in a la PS3 is not based on logic.
I personally think MS wants the format war to continue to promote digital distribution. It gets more cash via LIVE, more market share, and can be the content gatekeeper, which is more lucrative than bribing studios to use your format.

But the crux of your argument is based on two points which are silly.
1) You think Blu-Ray is a better technology. This makes absolutely no difference at all. Beta was better, Laser-Disc was better. It didn't help them one bit.
2) That Toshiba is somehow immoral by providing cash incentives to produce titles under HD. Who gives a shit? Sony is losing tons of money every time they sell a console. What's the difference in throwing money at this format war in different ways?

If a lot of what I'm saying is technically and sales based inaccurate, prove it. I've proved you wrong at least 10 times in these 2 threads.
The format isn't being outsold 2-1 and even if it was, it's certainly not worth bragging about since there are oh, 2.5 million PS3's in the US to the measly 500K HD standalones. You'd think that since BR has already won and everyone who owns a PS3 is not really a 20 something young person who can't wait to play Madden 08 but a audio/video enthusiast/hobbiest, a movie collector and film aficionado and all that we'd be seeing sales in the 5-1 range, instead we get 1.5-1. Boy, that's "DOMINATION".
You are the one claiming victory Lyion. I know you are trying really hard to justify your $500 purchase of that piece of shit but really, use some logic and think about what you say before you type it. You've been making yourself look like a fool for long enough.

I've placed links, tech formats, and facts. You proclaim HD DVD winner over and over, due to fuck knows why, maybe owning Toshiba stocks. Toss's argument="Game set match, well played Toshiba for a firesale". As I said, thats a ridiculous statement and shows a serious lack of comprehension. The pictures in this thread explain much, even if most here don't care about it.
I'll let people read these two threads and make up their own minds.

Ok, lets revisit your propaganda:
You keep talking about 99 dollar players. Show me some, or admit you are guessing, as with much in these threads. I certainly can't find any.
Toshiba, Onkyo, RCA and a few other "in store" CE manufacturers are making HD-DVD players. Expect more companies to release players next year.
Show me a link to an HD DVD player NOT made by Toshiba that I can buy
today, not some announcement of vaporware. Also, if your price point of 99 dollars for HD DVD players is realized, why would anyone want to enter that market?
The number of titles available for each format has been neck and neck since shortly after the formats were launched.
This is also a misrepresentation. Show me the NEW movie numbers and titles and look at the sales chart. Something tells me Ratatouille and Spider Man 3 are not exactly equal to Lung Chun in Love from Bollywood in regards to titles.
More studios are on the Blu-ray side and some who have just recently went HD DVD exclusive are doing so for a limited time due to big checks, and have BR releases. Also, the industry has rumored WB to be going to the Blu-ray side of things, although that certainly is not fact, just industry reporting.
Anyway, here are the FACTS to offset your PROPAGANDA for movies:
Blu-ray support Warner Bros.
Disney
Fox
Lionsgate
MGM
Sony Pictures
HD-DVD supportWarner Bros.
Paramount
Universal Studios

Is it so hard to believe? We've seen it once, we'll see it again. Consumer response was amazing. They will follow up. Sears had another "secret sale" last Friday night and sold MORE HD-A2 at $98.

http://cgi.ebay.com/RCA-HD-DVD-Player-B ... dZViewItemhttp://www.target.com/Venturer-HD-DVD-P ... yer&page=1The Onkyo was just released overseas last week and will be here stateside end of November.
DVD players can be bought for $10 now, why are other manufacturers still making DVD players?

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/releasedates.htmlhttp://bluray.highdefdigest.com/releasedates.htmlThey are both right there.
Besides Army of Darkness is an HD-DVD exclusive. Isn't that reason enough to buy a cheap player? Seriously, at this point all the BR people complaining about cheap prices are just fucking stupid for not buying one and enjoying all the great movies they are missing out on.
More studios are on the Blu-ray side and some who have just recently went HD DVD exclusive are doing so for a limited time due to big checks, and have BR releases. Also, the industry has rumored WB to be going to the Blu-ray side of things, although that certainly is not fact, just industry reporting.
The amount of studios supporting the format doesn't matter when they are releasing a handful of films. Warner and Sony are BR's biggest contributers. If they lose Warner (it's been rumoured that they are jumping ship by BOTH sides of the argument) then they lose like 1/2 of their releases.
Anyway, here are the FACTS to offset your PROPAGANDA for movies:
Blu-ray support
Warner Bros.
Disney
Fox
Lionsgate
MGM
Sony Pictures
HD-DVD support
Warner Bros.
Paramount
Universal Studios
You left out Weinstein, New Line, Studio Canal and several other HD-DVD supporters and failed to mention that many of the BR exclusives are available on HD-DVD via import.

Very tough to argue point.
Your DVD players rebuttal consist of vaporware and ebay, though. Not good points.
New Line, specifically speaking Lord of the Rings isn't released on High Def yet, so not a good argument there.
The other studios you listed are small subsidiaries. I'm talking large studios. Lions Gate is the Weinsteins, also.

The fact that MGM is supporting Blu-Ray is a good reason to support HD~

Not that it's really relevant, but my bluray movies from my PS3 rebate finally came in. And only 2 out of the 5 requested movies were what I actually requested (Corpse Bride and Kiss of the Dragon). The three that they "recommended I would like based on my selections" were Stir of Echos, Invincible and......
STEALTH booya!!!
ps. no

Japans porn market chose Blu-Ray. One thing you have got to remember though, is while Porn had the major impact on VHS, the internet wasn't around in it's true porn overflowing glory yet.

Sears is still selling the HD-A2 for $98 if you can find any in your area. Call around and see if they have any in stock. That still includes the 5 free HD-DVDs by mail.
The Black Friday sales are pretty incredible as well.
HHgreg is offering the A3 which is the replacement for the A2 for $149. It includes 300 and Bourne Identity in the box and the 5 free mail ins.
Sears is offering the same deal on the A3 for $169 on Black Friday.

There should be some pretty good PS3 deals on Black Friday.
I just saw 399 no tax, free shipping for an 80 Gig PS3, Motorstorm game, and 5 Blu-ray disks.
Kmart has a 20% off coupon that works on PS3s.

No thanks. Let me know when they are under $200 and I'll pick one up.
