I have a 7800GT and so far it's been great. Not sure how well it'll run Vangard but hopefully it won't be too bad. :)

So I watched the 15 minute walkthrough on Vanguard....I'm hoping it was just lagging because of the video taking but the devs were getting like 2 frames per second anytime they ran. Why the fuck would you post a movie like that displaying your game running like absolute shit?

So far I'm not at all impressed with the screens I've seen of it. It really looks like something done 5 years ago or something. I like some of the ideas I've read that Brad has for it but who knows if they will actually come to light.

Honestly, I don't think I'll be able to spend much time on any of these types of games anymore. They just don't hold my attention like they used too.

I'm gonna give it one more try then uninstall it. It's laggy as hell and my graphics are so low it reminds me of the Zelda Gamecube game.

With AMD 64 3500, 1gig ram & a 6800 GT it's playable, but with medium to low graphics. They do look like dog shit at low settings, but cranking it up to high just for fun they look pretty nice. Game mechanics are pretty fun, mainly because they're different. Gathering, fighting, questing and pretty much everything else is nothing like the handheld walkthroughs of WoW. While they're not as bad as EQ1's "I need a sammich", which will then lead you on a wild goose chase to find griffon eggs and kill poor bunnies, the quests are more involved than say, WoW, EQ2 and pretty much anything else out there now.

If you're tired of getting to max lv in a week then wondering "what now", VG will be a good alternative.

*shrug* I am on record for quite some time predicting Vanguard would fall far short. I repeated it when they had to get bought out from MS because they would've been shut down otherwise.

Everyone is talking about how brilliant they were for creating the original EQ. I repeat again: All they did was make a 3D engine for a DIKU mud. The mechanics, most of the design plan, hell, even the classes and spells were direct copies of DIKU. It was so blatant at least with pre-Kunark EQ that one of the original creators of DIKU sued Verant for copywright infringement, and only dropped the suit after he was allowed to read over the source code.

Yes, it was still a monumental task to create EQ. But always remember, the skeleton, framework and guts of the game design had been done for them already back then, their biggest work was on creating the 3D engine. This time, they're having to start from scratch, and it's clearly not something they're handling overly well.

I'm still looking forward to playing this game when it comes out. I'll probably buy a new comp to play it and use my old comp for a second account to craft or something ;p
