there was so much shit going on at these its hard to describe. Anyone fit in easily. Good example, you ever see the original woodstock movie? kinda like that on a smaller scale. shit it was much better then actually seeing the dead.

Radiohead - just never did catch on with me. I KNOW they're not, and everyone loves them, but it sounds like whiner rock at it's finest to me.

Basically everything that's on top 40 radio these days. I guess that's the sign I'm getting old....

i can still listen to almost any dick's picks grateful dead album and be thoroughly satisfied. probably has to do with the fact that i live in the hub for the merry pranksters after all of those ppl left california and the grateful dead played around here a lot. i don't like every song, but some of their stuff i absolutely love. especially the first live / dead album. awesome

I enjoyed the one Grateful Dead show I went to. I will say that it had the most insanely nice people of any crowd of any show I ever went to. It also, yes, was the most openly druggie crowd too, though that not by much. People were lighting up joints and blunts and just passing them out to people to drift person to person through the crowd, without ever expecting them back, etc. A lot of people were up dancing away through the show, was kinda cool.

The thing about the Dead is that they were a jam band. They took their established songs as starting points live, and would go on long improvisational instrumental musical ramblings, as they just played.

Not saying it was staggeringly awesome or anything, but it was definitely different, and spawned a whole class of bands with similar bents, like Phish and others.
