i think im the only rural member of the board here... if i call the cops in the closest city it will be a good 20-30 minutes before they would get to the ranch. when you live int he middle of nowhere you have to be your own law enforcement. arlos as much as i respect your oppinion the reality is that if someone came on my property and maimed my cattle (my only current source of income) or cut holes in my water tank you better believe i would would point my .357 magnum right at their head

Nusk, I'm not arguing defending your livelihood if you catch them in the act of killing your cattle or breaking your water tank, etc. That's a COMPLETELY different kettle of fish. I would completely expect if you caught someone in the act you'd use whatever means necessary to stop them, whether that be .357, 12-gauge, 30-06, really big dogs, etc. etc. etc.

That's not what happened here though. At some time in the past someone killed a cow, not the people he stopped and were suing him in this case. Someone killing one of your cows 2-3 weeks ago wouldn't give you the right to stop some completely unrelated random person on your land and threaten them as if THEY were the ones that had done it, right?

These people he held at gunpoint weren't guilty of anything besides walking across land he was leasing from the federal government. Big big difference between that and him stopping people actually harming one of his livestock, etc.

I'm only aware of one other case against him, although there may be more. Arizona probably has similar rules to most states regarding trespassing and leased public land. Generally recreational use is permitted as long as it does not interfere with the lessee's use of the land, however entering on the land for the purpose of committing a crime or to avoid apprehension by law enforcement would not fall under the qualifications of recreational use.

Damn this is stupid. Guy cant even protect his land without a bunch of shit falling on him. You better believe that if someone is routing around on my property, whether they be black, mexican, white, or purple, and I feel threatened in any way, I am going to take care of the problem. Hell, there a while back I was talking to a couple buddies that are cops around here, and in this little town I guess everyone knows everyone pretty much, and this subject came up. They told me if anyone was ever doing it and I felt threatened in any way, to kill the bastard(s) and theyd even make it look like I was threatened if it didnt



Speaking of ridiculously retarded stories, this came to mind. The courts made a judgement around here a while back that no one could believe. There was some idiot copper thief (if you dont know, scrap copper sells for big money now. Coal mines get robbed constantly of cable, or anything else with it. I myself have even been robbed numerous times at the shop from them) running around with a high powered rifle, shooting down the non-live powerlines and stripping the copper out of em. Well, long story short, the dipshit shot down the wrong line, then grabbed onto it, and fried his ass to a crisp. So his worthless, welfare sucking piece of shit family decides to sue the power company for his death. They made the power company pay them something like 5 million bones. It was un fucking real. I even know who they are and where they live. About a month after it happened, a couple of em were pulled over on the way back to their trailer and got busted with like 10,000 bucks worth of pills and meth. Haha, what a great ending though
