Why not also ask radiant Christians from previous centuries to offer up their intercessions on your behalf? This is perhaps the most positive way to think of praying to the saints. Yet there is a problem here. Asking Saint Joan to pray for you becomes praying to Saint Joan. But praying is an act of worship and devotion, and this can be offered only to God.
Ohhhh... almost forgot....

I'm not catholic, but I think it's a bit disgraceful to throw pictures of a dead man laid out on a table all over the place.. isn't there a better way to pay respect? I don't know why it gets under my skin so badly, but ugh. Parading a corpse just doesn't seem to be the best way to honor someone.

I agree. Unfortunately, this is the same part of the world that will pull out an ages old mummified person they believe to be a saint and parade them around.
To me, that lack of respect. To them it's honoring them.

Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.
