Civil rights icon died

Post by Phlegm »

Rosa Parks, who helped trigger the civil rights movement in the 1950s, died today. Parks inspired the civil rights movement when she refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama in December 1955. Her arrest triggered a 381-day boycott of the bus system by blacks and led to court rulings desegregating public transportation nationwide.

anyone know if there will be any events in atlanta to commemorate her passing?

they should like, erect a statue or something, though not one made of white marble?

Or perhaps burn down the city and flip over some police cars. I mean, dedicate a library.

Yes... In Atlanta crime will continue to soar and the proud black people with honor her by selling crack and spending welfare on malt liquor.

That was segregation she fought, Thon as I am sure you know and are just joking. Hoever we dont want to confuse those people that might not know.

As for the whole Rosa Parks death Three things I can almost assure you will happen.

1. Expect Faracon to announce the white man killed her. And her body will be interred in the 'mother ship'

2. Jesse Jackson to pimp more air time about how if the white man would have just paid more money to those ancestors of black slaves she would still be alive.

3. Rev Al Sharpton Will bitch if a statue is errected of her because the marble aint black enough, the statue is not as high as the Lincoln Memorial and it is all a testement to how the white man just wants to bring the black man down.

It is sad knowing that a lady like her will be used as a media whore before he body hits the grave. But expect it.

a columnist i read....

As many of you know, Rosa Parks passed away yesterday at the age of 92. What most of us today don't understand is the tremendous courage this gentle lady showed 50 years ago when she refused to give up her seat on that bus in Montgomery, Alabama.

I agree there. I just have a feeling that I am right on this one. Trust me these tree idiots will take over face time and defame this woman.

I still think it's horseshit someone made up to launch a crusade. Ranks up there with the made up Al Gore story about the old lady needing money for meds etc etc.

that's "Farrakhan"

normally i wouldn't bother to correct spelling but I find it somewhat ironic that you feel comfortable criticizing this man's political views but yet cannot spell his name correctly.

Yes, because you can't disagree with someone if you can't spell their name properly.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

those 3 are indeed jackasses - not dumb, but jackasses regardless

Nonetheless, I *hope* you're incorrect about her being used as bad press and become a media icon - I have a lot of respect for that lady. Regardless of how some situations are today, we need to take into perspective how it was back then, and to stand up for what you believe when in all reality she could've been tortured or murdered for it, she certainly deserves her praise.

I'm glad she lived such a long and meaningful life. 92 is a ripe old age, especially for those such as she who did have such a contribution to such a trying time.
