2,000 U.S. soldiers are dead as of today. They all died in vain. Of course I care about the 26,000+ Iraqi’s and others who have died, but you think that faced with the remains of 2,000 of their sons and daughters that Americans would march on Washington, D.C. I am not talking about a peaceful march. I am talking about a Jefferson-style overthrow of our fucking government. We could have a rally commemorating the dead. We could physically restrain any youngsters who are interested in joining the military. We could beat off in the shower and neglect to give a shit. In regard to the war in Iraq, I will take the latter option. It seems like a lot of my life was spent trying to stop this war before it started and after it started. Now, the war is officially over and, well, the American public can eat their fucking war.

Please don't dishonor the sacrifices of our troops by saying that they died in vain. Regardless of how you feel about the war in Iraq, those soldiers, everyone of them put thier lives on the line and paid the ultimate price in fullfilling thier oath of service to this country.

I do not mean to trivialize the deaths of a single American soldier, nor the loss that thier friends and family feel. However please compare the total deaths to the number of deaths in previous wars (these are American soldiers killed btw).

World War I -116,516
World War II - 405,000
Vietnam - 58,226

Please keep it in perspective... oh and have fun beating off in the shower I guess, if this is what turns you on.

Edit: my appologies to anyone who has lost friends or family in the Iraq war, I considered not posting this because I would have a hard time saying something of this nature to anyone who had lost a loved one over there, but I also felt the first post needed to be responded to.

Are you related to Silly Cindy Sheehan by chance? She couldn't wait for the number to reach 2000 so she could chain herself to a fence somewhere.

2000 is an amazingly low number for the amount of time we've been over there. I'm sure the media is disappointed the number isn't higher.

As someone who has lost friends and family to this "war", I can say taht they did not die in vain, but I do not believe they died for a good cause. But that is my opinion.

They died because they gave their loyalty to a military force they trusted would only send them into harm's way under absolute necessity. The leadership of this country failed them, and sent them over there without proper equipment, planning, or even a supportable mission. The proper way to honor their memory is to get rid of those that mis-used them and insure that it never happens again.

PS You can say they died in vain if you believe that ultimately the military mission over there is going to make things worse in the long run. Deaths + No Gain = dying in vain. It is possible to honor the soldier without honoring the mission they are on.

My brother died in Iraq. Believe me, it wasn't in vain. I'll be heading over there next fall as well. If I move on, it won't be in vain either. We're not there to circle jerk eachother off, whether you agree with the decision to keep troops over there or not, it's the reality. Nothing you, or I say will change it. Besides, someone has to do it. Half the fucking people in the United States are faggot immigrants who are here to exploit our country rather then embrace it. I get so pissed off when I see people not stand up for the Pledge of Allegiance or National Anthem, let alone come to our country not knowing one fucking word of english. And do you think they will go fight for our country?

Jazendar as one Vet to a soldier heading to battle I say thanks for your service. I feel sorry about your bothers death but much like all the soldiers that have died in the service of their country he died a hero. I have lost a few friends to this war as well as the previous ones, I can say is that the soldiers I see coming home are happy to come home but regret that they could not stay on.

True Story to relate:
I got a chance to talk with a few of the soldiers that have come back. Alot of them swing in because I do give a significant discount to active duty military as well as those soldiers that are coming back on. One that had his knee almost completely removed by a IED regretted having to leave.

His statement struck home because of what he told me.
"I regret that I had to leave" he said "Being in the engineering copr of things I can see the difference we make. When we arrived most of the city was black due to no power. Perhaps one in every 10 blocks had lights. Now Baghdad is lit up at night and all houses within a 8 mile radius of Baghdad have power. We also built new septic and potable water systems for them. Before we came here most houses did not have functioning running water. After all within the same 8 mile radius have running toilets, clean drinking water. This might not seem like much but to these people it means alot. Not a day went by that a Iraqi would not come up to me and give me a hug and thank me for what we are doing over there."

I can see that the sacrifice of these people are in vain. The ability to live a decent life in about 20 years means nothing to people like Milesaway and the media. No more rape rooms where women and girls could not walk down the road for fear that they would not be snatched up as pleasure toys for the Iraqi Army. No more mass graves where large amounts of people of a different muslim faith is piled 10 high and 300 feet long all from the Sarin Gas testing. Yeah these soldiers died in vain.

I think I speak for almost everyone that has served in the past present and future when I say "Fuck you". You might not like why we are over there but to say these troops died in vain is the worse thing you can do to the memory of those soldiers past, present and future.

It does crack me up to see the civilians, the vast majority of whom have never been to Iraq and whose information about the situation there is provided by the media outlet of their choice, talking about how futile the US efforts there have been.

And the same selective media outlets are waving flags and claiming it to be a huge success.

A lot of people who are there have come back and said it was pretty fucked up.
