Hardest game you never beat?

Post by Alphonso »

Just curious if anyone else here has ever picked up a game so hard they couldn't beat it.

for me the hardest games I ever played are the really old ones...seems like the new games today are mostly made for the mainstream gamers and not the hardcore.

Shadowgate (nes) I dare you to download this and try to beat it.

jewels of the oracle(pc)

shannara(pc)

has anyone here ever beaten any of these games? I doubt many of you have even heard of them though :dunno:

The original Zork was hugely painful at times.

Sima yi was a pain in the ass until i figured out how to beat him very easily. kill his two sons. then die so when you return they wont be there. then just make sure you ce main every turn with zhuge liang.. while powerpilling every turn on him with all your other chars.

shadowgate in 44 minutes is insane. I always use up all my torch and die. :dunno:

Vonkaar, I am pirating that now.

I just picked up the latest two in the Shannara series.

They are getting a bit tired these days... but then again, I have more of them than Stephen King books.

Maximum Carnage for the SNeS system (spider man game) was fucking insanely tough. I could get almost to the end, but that version of Carnage always Pwed me.

Shadowgate was tough till you figured it out. Then it was easy. Very tough to beat though if you dont know what you are doing.

I stopped after "First King..." I enjoyed it... all of them TBH, but he REALLY REALLY needs to figure out how to come up with something new.

Someone really really bad is threatening to kill the lands.
Someone goes and talks to a dead druid who tells them how impossible the situation yet offers an incredibly detailed solution that 'just might' work.
The 'good guys' split up and they each go on some crazy quest to bring back some trinket that will smash the bad guy...
Everyone narrowly succeeds and they somehow win.

rinse, repeat.

"The Druid of Shannara" and "Elfstones" were my two favorites because they were the LEAST like the others. "First King" was cool, but it was basically a complete 'redo' (yet, a prequel... odd) of the 'first' book (Sword). My brother read the Jerle series and he said it's the exact same thing. Soooo... I haven't picked up a Brooks book in forever.

I've seen the video of the kid who beats it in 10 minutes with 99 lives, but I've never made it all the way through any of the games =(

I can send you most of the EBooks. I liked the Scions of Shannara series the best, particularly the one dealing with Walker Boh's adventure into the dead city.

Ogre Battle, getting the best ending possible with out repeatedly drawing bad cards/letting your core units get overpowered was very very tough. I still havn't finished it to this day, though I am pretty close on my emulator.
