What do you guys think of GIMPshop?
It's a flavor of GIMP with purely cosmetic changes...
It is meant to act and feel exactly like Photoshop's interface.
Any thoughts? Would I be better off using the original GIMP?
Thanks.

oh !
Another question.
Lets say I took the source code to GIMPshop or GIMP which is available to all...
Could I pay developer to make a few changes and then repackage it as my own version and choose my own name?
I really want to implement open source as a replacement to some commercially available programs, but damn do the names suck ass.
The marketing of open source is just fucking awful and IMO the main reason it's not being widely adopted. Most of the open source products out there are on some nerds website with their stupid techy blogs and all kinds of random crap.
If they gave these programs a professional sounding name, not nerdy and not indicative of actually being open source I think there would be a lot wider acceptance.

Be careful with that plan, selling them for a fee is against the GNU license. However should you cite all the code properly and make it available open source as well you could modify the GIMP code and make your own distro. But again, I must stress, you MUST NOT MAKE A PROFIT OFF OF ANY GNU product.
