Help with Emulators!

Post by Sithos »

Every few months I get into a spree where I want to play the old classic games that were on the consoles from ages past. Mostly RPGS/Strategy for me.

I am relatively new to emulators and DL'ing console games. Wouldn't know where to begin. But for some odd reason I'm jonesing to play the Breath of Fire game (amongst many others) that was on the Playstation. I never owned any other consoles so not sure what games if any are out there for them that I may enjoy.

Not sure if I can just DL and install an emulator and then DL and run a game or however it works. But any help would be appreciatted.

Not 100% sure if this is a Tech Support kinda question or Other worlds. Feel free to move it if needed

ZSNES was the best SNES emulator Nesticle was the best NES emulator. Not sure about the Sega stuff. ROMS (games) are universal, so no matter what emulator you have, they should work (assuming it's the right system). Basically download the emulator, don't even have to install it, it's just an executable, and keep the ROMs int he same directory and load them from the emulator.

Very simple.

Use ZSNES as it still seems to be the best snes emulator out there. You can get pretty much any ROM you are looking for at Romnation.

ZSNES doesn't work for some newer systems.

SNES9x is your next choice.

For Genesis use Gens (this also runs Sega CD games)

NES use anything, none of them suck.

I use:

NES -- Nesticle
SNES -- SNES9x
Sega -- Dgen

Should be easily findable on Google np.~

No idea where to find ROMs anymore.

I don't have any emulators. But I remember seeing BLeem! for sale at circuit city years ago.

It was very buggy and rarely ran much from my experiences with it.

I bought it back when it was brand new, before the lawsuit that Sony lost vs. them.

It sucked majorly from my memory. ePSX will run your CD's from your CDROM too, it's great.

Best rom site I have ever found that is always being updated.

I use Snes9x and Fakenes, both are killer.
