Never did fantasy sports before. Can someone tell me how this works?

OK, basically consider if everyone in the NFL (at least on offense, not counting the OL) were removed from their current team and put into a big draft pool. QBs, RBs, TEs, WRs. Defensive Units were placed in there in their entirety.

At some point before the season starts, we will have a draft, and each one of us will pick players from the pool of all NFL players in order to make our own teams. You will need at least 1 QB, 1 TE, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 K and 1 defensive unit, plus up to 6 reserves, to fill in should someone get injured or have a bye on a given week.

Now, when the actual games happen, the players you pick will play in the RL games. Depending on how they do, their performance will earn your team points. For example, for a QB, for every 50 yards of passing they get, you will earn 1 point. For every TD, 6 points, etc. For RBs, every 20 yards they get gets you 1 point, etc. For every FG, your kicker earns you 3 points, for every PAT he kicks, you get 1, and so on. For defenses, you get points for sacks, interceptions, TDs, fumble recoveries, safeties, etc.

Now, every week 2 owners are matched against each other. Once ALL of the games for that week are completed, the total number of points you've earned from all of your players is added up, and whichever owner's team earned him the most points wins. At the end of week 14, the 4 teams with the top win/loss records make it to the "playoffs", with the ultimate winner being determined in week 16.

During the season people can trade as they see fit, but they're subject to approval by other owners should someone try and trade Peyton Manning for some 4th string WR, say. When you draft players, you need to take into account everything they give you. A RB that runs for 2000 yards but only gets you 5 TDs would be worth less than an RB that ran for 500 yards but got 20 TDs. RBs that both run and catch are particularly prized, as they get points for everything they do: running yards, receiving yards, 2-point catches, TD catches, TD runs, etc. There's no penalty points either, so you don't lose anything if your QB throws 50 INTs as long as he gets you yards and TDs.

Are we doing a live draft this year, or automated?

Hey can I suggest a change to the scoring? I think 10 yds rushing should equal 1 point and the same for receiving, instead of 20 yds = 1 point.

You are going to have kickers outscoring RBs and WRs quite often.

Maybe even lower it for passing yards per point. 50 seems too high.

Also I changed my name to Griever's Fancypants.

I wanted Griever's Global Warming but it wouldn't all fit.

Points are going to stay the same. There is already enough scoring in Fantasy football...not going to add more to it. An online draft will be held if we can get everyone to agree on a date. When the league is full, we will decide on the date for that.

I prefer automated draft in this case. It just seems like that what it will come down to anyways with such diverse schedules and time zones.

Ugh. I always get screwed hard in automated. I'll seriously take like 4 hours of vacation or something to make a live draft if I have to.

Any "succpect" trades between friends i will imediatly Veto as commish before it even gets on the board. I wont allow stacking.
