How is EVE online?

Post by Captain Insano »

I'm somewhat interested in it as a super casual type of activity...

Don't you build ships and fly around and dogfight and shit or is it more RPG/turn based combat?

Whats the time investment on this and is it fast paced?

Get rid of the pictures of the goofy looking white guy. That opens two right there.

Mazzletoffarado: That's me fucktard

It is a freakin sweet game.

You do build ships and fly around and dogfight. It is not turn based.

But it is super, duper ocmplex. Be ready to have to soak up a lot of knowledge.

The most brutal PVP of any mmo out there. You can be totally ripped off and owned if you dont watch your back. There is a legendary story about an inside job on a corp, guy ripped them off for billions or something.

Anyway, great game. Youll llove it because you can be a PIRATE.

Also, the time investment thing.

One of the more controversial things about the game is that your skills raise based on real-time training.

Meaning, you pick which skill you want to train, and it takes a certain amount of time, from like a few minutes, all the way to like, a week or two, depending on the rank and stuff. This is good because it means you can progress without being logged in. Log in, set skills to train, log out.
You were right Tikker. We suck.

I really like the game design, and really disliked the flight modelling. I wish they modelled like SWG or Earth and Beyond.

I may fire this game up again, as I'm bored with WOW and EQ2.

If I had the time or you know, people to start a corp with, I'd still be playing this. Easily the one of the best MMO's on the market. The PvP is insane, fleet battles own.

I played it for 3 months. It was great. The community is very strong and the ships look awsome. Eve also has the advantage of no walls. Walls have always been problems in mmo! Also, the universe is HUGE. The game is so massive and there is only one server. The ships are very creative and the wolf owns btw =)

The major downfall of eve is there is zero possibility of people who join late catching up with the hardcores. All skills are based on time. This was nice at first, but eventually it felt like I was logging in to change up my skills then logging off. I joined ASCN to hopefully see what the pvp was like. Alls that did was flag a thousand more ships to kill me in empire space =p The neatest idea in eve is player owned space. This creates a new dimention of pvp that no other game I have played has done before.

Eve is a cool game, but there is something missing.

Are people still as nasty as they were after opening? I played on release and naturally the beta testers had the advantage of game knowledge so they developed quicker and started blocking the richer areas, is it still that bad?

There are so many ways and places to make a profit in eve... Even if 60% of them where taken it would leave another 100 thousand.

With that being said, the best way to make money is to join a corp. The very best ore is found in 0.0 space.
