DS Roms

Anyone ever try this out or know someone who has?

$130 for a 4gb DS flash card that fits in the DS slot. It has a build in USB port and hooks up to your computer and you can download DS roms directly onto it.

It's better than spending 30-40 a game. If it really does what it says it does and the games are the exact same as if you buy them, I am picking this up.

I need input from you lovely people first though being that I am a n00b and have no idea what I am doing when it comes to this l33t haxx0r stuff.

Whatever I will keep researching. I know a guy who know a guy that has one of these things and the games are like drag and drop at no cost.

Ok so I took the plunge.

In order to make this thing work I had to order two things.

The M3 DS Simply:

And a Micro SD card. I ordered a 1GB SanDisk Micro SD Card + Reader/Writer.

Both cost me about $100 including tax and shipping and handling.

You download the DS roms from the web (for free) in 50 game bundles. I was looking at the bundles and games that came out a week ago have already been ported over (i.e Hotel Dusk).

Then you drag and drop the games you want onto the Micro SD card. Then you insert the Micro SD card into the M3 DS Simply and insert that into the DS slot (it's the same size as a DS game).

It also supports music, mp3s and a ton of other roms including NES, SNES etc.

I'll let you guys know how it works out.

If this thing works like everyone says it does, I'd say now is the time to buy it. I know three guys who have it (actually one guy has the old style that fits into the GBA slot) and they all say it's amazing.

I got it and it's awesome.

Works just as advertised. Plug in the SD micro into the transflash reader/writer (M3 Simply comes with a USB transflash reader/writer) drag and drop the .nds files onto the SD micro card, remove card from reader/writer, insert card into M3 Simply, insert M3 simply into DS, turn DS on and it boots to a screen that gives you a scrolling option of all the games on the card.

I currently have 700 games. Actually about 400 but most game files come with the US, European and Japanese versions of the game. I think they are up to like 1200 now. I just havent downloaded the rest yet. Games range from 15-80 megs. Most are arount 30-40 megs. I currently have like 10 games on my card and it's only half full.

Price of a DS = 130
Price of an M3 Simply = 50
Price of a 1 gig SD Micro card = 40-50 (although I am sure you can find cheaper ones on newegg or something)

Plus there are a ton of homebrews. Online FPS through wifi, web browsers, media players, PDAs and someone even figured out a way to use your DS as a remote control for winamp through Wifi. People are even working on fantasy based MMOs lolz!

It's amazing and every day it'll get better.

Yeah it is for DS.

As I said in a previous post, you need two things to make it work:

The M3 Simply cartridge and a SD Micro card.

The M3 Simply cartridge is a cartridge that is the same size as a DS game, but it has a slot in it that you can insert a SD micro card into. You drag and drop games (that you DL off the web for free) onto the SD micro card and insert the SD micro card into the modified DS cartridge (the M3 Simply). Then, you just insert the M3 simply into the DS like its a regular DS game. Turn on the DS and it will go to a screen that shows you a list of all the games you dragged onto the SD micro card.

The games are exact images of the DS games (EPROM). The only thing you miss by not paying 29.99-39.99 per game is, you don't get the fancy case and no game booklet.

I have one of these ... me and two cousins got for Xmas, and my uncle already had one. Was awesome, when we get together we all bring our DS and play the games together. I heard about the browser you can get for it too ... gotta get from UK though - cost about $50.

Cousin works with a guy that rigged up something like that from scratch, and he actually downloads and watches whole movies on it lol

Ginz, are you saying that you can get a free browser for your memory card, or you referring to the same thing I'm talking about?

last I knew the browser was only for Japan and Europe. You can use the Euro version but it's $50.

A buddy of mine who has had it for awhile (has the GBA slot version) said he had a homebrewed browser. I haven't really looked around for it so maybe he was talking about the same thing you are talking about. I'm overwhelmed with choices at the moment.

I was referring to the Opera browser. Getting a 'free' browser using your method would be good.

I'd like to think so, but that was also a contributing factor to the Dreamcast's demies and personally I loved the Dreamcast and was sad to see it go. Piracy is wrong no matter how you look at it and I treat their business like I would want mine treated in the future. I buy on average like maybe 1-2 games a month? That's 80-100 bucks for something I will enjoy for months. That probably adds up to less than a dollar a day. I know enough to where game companies aren't gonna tank and stop producing games because of piracy nowadays, but it's more a karma thing for me.
