I saw Drem lurking so I thought it'd be fun to bring up some good old quotes. This is one of my favorites.

Stop being a pretentious elitist twat.

You hide behind these movies made 40 50 60 years ago as if cinema CANNOT advance. Fine, you love Felinni and Tarkovski and Kurosawa movies. We get it. Not a thread goes by were you don't make mention of one of the great film directors. Just because you happen to have gleened a little cinematic knowledge (and oh how I wish you'd not), does not invalidate all the contemporary work of every filmmaker of the last 20 years.

How is it you find yourself comparing M Night to Kurosawa, Kevin Fucking Smith to Felinni? Are you actually listening to yourself? You think the Criterion collection should be what 7 movies that Drem thinks are pretty awesome? No need to delve any deeper, some fuckwit from NT doesn't think Ferris Bueller is as good as 7 Samarai so we should just burn every copy of it. Heaven forbid someone in the film community praise of film like Royal Tenenbaums. A movie that is pretty universally agreed upon to be great. Drem doesn't like it. Will he ever be anywhere near a camera? Dear god no. But he saw The Bicycle Thief!

I guess we should see how Wes Anderson's work compares to Kubricks then. And if it doesn't stack up? We can drag him in the street and flay his ass alive.

I wish I could find the sig I had for the longest time.. it was something Ralph said that made me crack up every time I read it. It'd be very bittersweet if I could find it. Something about a newspaper?

Oh yeah! Something about a newspaper and a Russian, wasn't it?

I don't know if it was this board, or another board, but I remember a quote that went something like "I got a pair of K-Feds to replace my Nike's"

My brother did the opposite of that. He slept an entire summer for 12 hours than stayed awake for 36 or something like that.
