I can't use my pooper

Post by The Kizzy »

or my shower, or do laundry, orwash my dishes.

We have gotten 9 inches of rain in the past 3 days. Our septic tank that is less than a year old is full because of all the rain and I can't do anything that has to do with water.

Any ideas? We considered buying a subpump but then we heard it was illegal, and if we pay the $100 to have it pumped out, it is just gonna fill back up again, because everyone's yards are flooded around here.

Get a direct sewer connection rather than a septic tank. Or buy a septic tank that is sealed from the outside so it doesn't get water in it when it rains.

Sewer connection is not6 always an option. Sometimes you have to get your entire street to do so before you're able to. (City won't lay pipe if no one will tie in)

This happened in Fairhaven a long time ago. Then they just made it a part of the contract whenever someone sold a house that they'd have to pay for the tie in when that time came up. Problem solved and the city didn't pay shit...

I can't fathom anywhere where a sump pump would be illegal.. did the place you heard it from say why it would be against the law to have one? I know in WI it was unheard of not to have a sump pump; it's a pretty standard thing to have

We dont live in the city, we live in the county, no septic lines. and its illegal to pump waste back into your yard.

No, she was not referencing a sump pump.

Get a different type of septic system. Leech fields are such crap...

So I poured half a box of Rid X down my toilet and flushed twice per instruction. Anyway, as I was reading the box, it said that these are living organisms that feed on the stuff in your septic system. So this got me thinking, What happens when you feed a living organism? It grows, and the more fertalizer you put on grass and flowers, the more it grows.

So what happens if Im sitting on the pooper one day and this big thing comes up through the pipe and eats me from the bottom up? Or somehow finds another way to escape from my septic tank and kills me in my sleep. I don't want to be killed in my sleep my a poopmonster. PLEASE HELP ME

EDIT~~ My brother said I can sleep well tonight, because it will take more than 8 hous for the poopmonster to fully develop.

My baby sister snuck into the living room one day when I brought Dogma home for my little brothers to watch.

It took about 5 years for her to finally stop crying about the shitdemon.

sump pump wouldn't do you any good anyway. It takes water away from your foundation / basement and puts it back topside.

Your only real options are wait it out or move.

A couple things to note though, your septic field is roughly 3 feet underground, typically (unless you are in a valley) rain, shouldn't be flooding this. The tank itself isn't the problem but the field is, it isn't able to drain the tank quickly enough.

Septic tanks are sealed, to my knowledge this is required. If it wasn't sealed then you'd have raw sewage (aka solids) going into your field and that is BAD BAD BAD LOL.

I have septic (tank and field) but city water (wish it was the other way around). My neighbor just had his field replaced so I've got some recent details regarding how the whole thing works and the costs (about 10k to replace his field) :)

Wait....if you have a field isn't RidX a no-no?

I am not aware how one can have a "tank" and not a field. A field, to my knowledge is a required component of a septic system.

RidX isn't a no-no, Drain-o and things of this type are. You aren't supposed to use any toxic chemicals in your cleaning of dishes, laundry, showers, etc etc (if you are "green" anyway). The tank works via gravity and the solids sink to the bottom (thus you must clean your tank every 2-5 years depending on how much you shit LOL). The liquids drain through your field so nasty chemicals end up making their way to your lawn.

RidX is bacteria or enzyme used to eat your shit, literally :). I've gotten mixed feedback regarding the use of RidX, they guy that I had vacume my tank said it didn't do much, a plumber friend says it should be used every 6 months /shoulder-shrug :)

I don't know about ridx but I've heard of some pretty amazing bacteria that will "eat" all organic waste in a septic system as long as you can keep the bacteria alive ie. no chemical detergents/cleaners. I think it costs some serious coin (like 2k for a culture) so maybe the company went under (ha).

I'm betting she doesn't have a leech field septic system.

also, it shouldn't cost $10k for a leech field septic system replacement. For that amount, your neighbor probably got a mound system.
