Core (green box/white system)=System, no hard drive, no hd cables, just bare bones. You can play games but cannot play what backwards compatible xbox games (only about 40% of original xbox library) until you buy the hard drive or the bigger sized memory card. Online use is also out/extremely limited if you do not possess the HD or bigger mem card.

Pro (White box/white system)=Same as core but with 20 gig HD, HD cables, and headset. Now with HDMI port.

Elite (dark grey box/black system)=HDMI port, 120 gig HD. (Console and controllers are black, not white--this is the preferred choice for Zanchief.)

Do yourself a favor and wait til the fall. Theyre supposed to be coming out with cooler systems.

BTW-if you want HD movies, you have to buy some 200 dollar external drive (Which MS has said will not play games--JUST movies) . If you want wireless internet, you need to buy a 100 dollar wireless adapter. Also, online play requires a monthly fee for premium play. There is a free alternative that is bareboned down.

You can DL HD movies from the LIVE On Demand service but yeah, the external HD drive (which also works on your PC) is $179 and comes with 7 free HD-DVDs.

PS3 doesn't have any titles that interest me yet, and I'm not concerned about playing blu-ray or HD-DVD via a gaming console either

so only difference between the pro and elite is harddrive size?

There are reports that elites may contain the cooler hardware. (temperature, not popularity)

Yes that's the only real difference now that pros come with HDMI port.

Hey-you could hold out for the Halo 3 edition 360s coming out next month =)

I prefer 360 over the PS3 and Wii simply because the controllers. The wii is fun for parties but, the 360 is awesome for everything else. Oh, and the online features rock! By far the best online capability. Not to mention XNA studio!!!!!

360's are not as mod friendly yet, no.

If you can afford it, go for the Elite. I find myself running out of HD space often on the 20GB version.

if i remember right, the Core system doesn't come with a HD and you can play 360 games, BUT YOU CAN"T SAVE YOUR PROGRESS....

so you can technically play them but you have to constantly start over.... the core is a worthless POS IMHO

get at least the 20gb HD and have a ball...

and just to piss Harri off.... HALO 3 Comes out in LESS THAN A MONTH...... OMGZZZ

To answer your question Tikker, I'd get the one with the 20GB drive. There's a 99.9% chance that they will release new songs for Rock Band and the only way you'll be able to use them is to download them to your HD through Xbox Live.

I'll definitely get one with a HDD (it's possible to mod the HDD to larger one I believe)

I was jsut wondering if there were any other features that were missing, kind of like the differences in the PS3 flavours

hardware wise I think PS3 is stronger, but we'll see what happens and where all the good titles fall out

That site strikes me as fairly biased. It gives a lot of hyperbole, and is from an MS evangelist.

I might Ebay my 360 & games if I can get 300 bucks for them. I'll buy a PS3 around Christmas or whenever enough worthwhile titles are there for it.

I haven't seen a must have game come out for any of the 3 new consoles yet (altho rockband will be the first)

unlike the DS which has a ton I'm psyched for

I'm leaning towards the xbox mostly because it's cheaper than the ps3 and seems to be getting titles now (altho most of the titles people are raving about are shooters, which is gay on a console)

I was under the impression that rock band was coming out for 360 AND PS3.

Also, you can upgrade the HD in the PS3 without having to buy some console specific one. (Laptop HD works just as well.)

Good luck combing through the god damn millions of fucking fanboy bullshit web pages out there, though. You have these militant fuckers that's all "FUCK PS3-360 RAWKS RAWRRRR!!! I RAWK TOO! RAWR!" and I'm sure there's PS3 dumbfucks as well. It boils down to exclusives. look at a list of 360's exclusives, and PS3's. If you prefer one type of game over the other, choose that console. 360 seems to favor the "I'm gonna go mindlessly blow some shit up and then somehow consider this a real life accomplishment" though. So if that seems to fit your mindset, go with the 360.

If there was a fucking way to turn Teletubbies into a first person shooter, they would release it for the 360 and probably sell a shitload of them.

I meant that it was the only game for 360/ps3/wii that's out, or coming out that I'd even put in the MUST HAVE category

which sucks, cause I don't want to spend big money on a system just for 1 game
