If you had purchased $1,000.00 of Delta Air Lines stock one year ago you would have $49.00 left.
With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1,000.00.
With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.
But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all of the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have $214.00 cash.
Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.
It's called the 401-Keg
A recent study found the average American walks about 900 miles a year.
Another study found Americans drink, on the average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year.
That means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon.

Bunk I say! BUNK!!!
I don't believe for a microsecond that any average American walks an average of 900 miles a year.

i've never worked a job i didn't walk around 10 miles or so a day in total. coupled with the walking around my house, walking to the store, walking back from school sometimes, etc., i'd imagine i do about that per year easy

Yes, but see, this puts you in that whole "not average American" crowd who are, by contrast, lazy, unmotivated, and otherwise too hooked on their vehicles to realize that you really can walk 2 blocks without suffering either immense boredom or dying.

Re: Investing
There is no way in hell I drink 22 gallons of alcohol a year.
Lets assume the average beer is 5% alcohol by content & 12 ounces. That is .6 ounces of alcohol. A gallon is 128 ounces... to achieve a gallon of alcohol drinking beer would require me to drink 213 beers. To achieve 22 gallons of alcohol I would need to drink 4686 beers in a year which is approximately a 12 pack a day. I drink maybe 24 beers a month... so I may drink more than a gallon of alcohol a year, but not much more than that.

Yeah, I saw that 22 gallons a year thing and it kinda freaked me out. The biggest alcoholic I know wouldn't come anywhere near that.
22 gallons by volume? Sure, that's easy. I probably do that. But it *did* say 22 gallons of ALCOHOL.
