You guys still gaming?

Post by Jay »

What's everyone playing nowadays? Not sure how many of you still have the time or motivation to play games but I'm curious as to what everyone plays nowadays. I saw that a handful of you still play EQ, some play WoW, and others pick up new titles here and there.

As for me, I play Super Street Fighter IV competitively and attend or host weekly tournaments and have traveled to national tournaments. I occasionally play a retro title like Chrono Trigger or Castlevania SOTN or something like that but otherwise my entire gaming focus is on SSFIV for now, at least until Fallout: New Vegas, Outland and Fable 3 come out.

I haven't play any games since i quit eq in 2001. I was tempted to go pick up Starcraft2 but have resisted that urge so far.

That's not true. I forgot I did play Travian through 3 different cycles.

right now it's Other M (and Zelda: Spirit Tracks when i'm on the crapper)

once i'm done with that i'm going to play through all of the Metroid titles in canonical order

after that i've got a RTS/RPG hybrid for my PS3 i haven't even opened yet

then i'm going to look into the slew of mods that have been released for STALKER - Call of Pripyat since i last put that down

Doom II
DLC for Dragon Age
Uncharted 2

Just got a new ultra cheap Dell. It's a Zino and has limited gaming capability but I fired up the demo for Vanguard. Still a fun game but I don't have time to invest in a social game.

I just came back to Lord of the Rings Online after about a 2 month break. Other than that, I haven't played much of anything. I'm looking forward to Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 and Epic Mickey though.

Been hooked on Starcraft II the past 4-6 weeks, I enjoy that game. Still play eq1 as well but that's been on the side a bit since SC2 came out :p

The last game I played was Sacred 2. Not a bad hack and slash game for console.

I've played through a lot of games this year.

Infamous
Bioshock
Uncharted
Fallout 3
Dragon Age

I also picked up Champions of Norrath and Return to Arms for PS2 on ebay and played those for far too long.

Really I'm just waiting for New Vegas. I told my wife I was planning on taking a week off work once it comes out. She said I was lame.

Been playing a lot of EQ 2 recently, and really enjoying it.

Just picked up Fallout 3, and loving that. Aside from that going to pick up SC 2 here soon.

Still gaming here too.

I play WOW, but only 1 night a week pretty much, just to farm ICC and then done for the week. Will certainly play more once Cataclysm comes out.
Nothing else I play that much on the PC these days, though I did really enjoy Dragon Age, and the 2 Mass Effect games. (all on the PC)

In RL, I've gotten involved in the WOW TCG, which I think has a lot better mechanics than MTG does. I still occasionally play Warhammer as well, though not for a little while, now.

Of course, my schedule is about to change quite a bit in 2 weeks when I start my Masters Degree classes, so who knows what I'll still have time for then.

I'm so committed financially to MTG I don't see myself going to another game.

I play Battlefield: BC2, EQ on project1999.org, and a bit of some oldschool RPGs on my phone when I'm out and about. Yesterday I sat and took a breather after a ride and played some FF1 on a beach, relaxing.

I'm waiting for more awesomeness on the horizon like Diablo 3, Fallout's next iteration, etc.

I wish single player games were the highlight of my console gaming years.

I HAD(have) A LIFE OMG!

I always preferred The Secret of Mana marathon runs with my friends.

Super Metroid, I got it down to 3 hours & change for a 100% speed run. Then I sold my SNES.

I've done it in 2:20.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe you can beat the game soon as you get the fast run.

Never got into console gaming at all. I think the last console game I really played a lot was the original Wipeout on the PS1.

Part of that is I cannot STAND console controllers; my hands cramp up in nothing flat. (that and accuracy of targeting and movement SUCKS compared to a mouse) Part of it is though that I prefer a different kind of game than you generally get on consoles. I'd much rather play something like Civilization, Master of Orion, or Baldur's Gate than I would some platformer. Kinda ironic, given that my little brother has spent something like the last 15 years in the video game industry working on nothing BUT console titles.

You're missing out on a lot of quality gaming by ignoring console gaming entirely.

At least play them on a keyboard with an emulator!

I dunno, I honestly don't much care for exactly the kind of games that are most popular on consoles. Never liked platformers, going back to the original NES and Super Mario Brothers. Bored me to tears. Never been a fan of FPSs either. Only one I ever much liked was the original Half-Life. Not saying they're bad games, just not my cup of tea.
