Priest query

A'ight..well I never got the chance to play in the beta..and I've decided to get the game later this week. I'm looking forward to trying out the Priest. I have two friends who are going to go Paladin and Rogue / Hunter..and we are thinking of trying out a PVP server for a bit..

Anyways..how effective is a Priest specialising in Shadow in terms of the high end raid content, PVP and in general grouping? I've been reading the Thottbot comments (Ok, so not the most reliable of intelligence sources) and some posters have been saying that groups don't like a Shadow built Priest? Some of the comments are also referring to beta builds..so not sure whether they are relevant or not.

Please excuse the noobness here. Just trying to sift my way through the sea of info out there!

Vonk is a god at the priest class. I know nothing about the class other than that. Then again, they are overpowered like shaman, paladin and hunters, so they should be beaten with the nerf bat to the quality of the warrior class ! ! ! !

It's all about RELATIVE penis size. His wouldn't look so small if yours wasn't so ginormous... In fact, it may look even better in comparison to a scabby half-penis.

im playign a priest myself ( undead on blackhand named Nayana) and IMO shadow specialisation is more for solo and holy is more for groups.. that being said im putting abotu a dozen points into shadow and the rest into holy.. once i hit 60 i might go to fully holy specialisation.. from what i understand late game you can still heal very well with shadow spacialisation but when it comes to raids and groups holy is king.

It's a big debate. Basically... there are 2 sides to the issue.

The shadow-priests, and the holy/disc priests.

The shadow-priests say, "I have no problem keeping my group healed. Oh, I also get twice as much DPS and am much more effective in PVP.

The holy/disc priests say "YOU CAN'T HEAL AS WELL AS ME AND YOU CAN'T HEAL AS WELL BECAUSE YOU CAN'T HEAL AS WELL NOBODY SHOULD GROUP WITH YOU AND YOU CAN'T HEAL AS WELL GO TO HELL YOU EVIL PRIESTS YOU CAN'T HEAL AS WELL!!!!!!"

Come to think of it... we shadow-priests KNOW that we can do 'just fine'. It's the holy/disc priests that do all the complaining. We just want to sit back and tear shit up... they are the ones crapping on us 8(.

The only thing I REALLY miss from my disc days is the 15second runes... that was awesome.

Its the same as warriors though Vonk. I cry and piss and moan because I get owned solo, but as you know, you cannot steal aggro off of me if you try. While 99% of the other warriors are crying they cannot hold aggro, or suck at PvP yet can solo easy.

I've been playing a priest since alpha and honestly I still think holy / disc. is the way to go for higher lvls. I'm on a pvp server myself and have quite a few points in shadow but then again I have some in holy and disc. Once it's raid time i'll be back almost full holy/disc with very lil shadow if any. I think shadow spec is fun but I still think a holy/disc spec will heal a lot better for group situations where you are the only healer. Now a shadow spec priest is awesome for stacking

We were doing SM last night with me and a shadow spec priest. It was a hella lot of fun. It's your own preference. If I wanted to do massive dmg and be a nuker type i'd have played a mage, instead I duo with Vene who is one. Between the few shadow spec talents I have and him, we are pretty lethal.

well honestly you cant go wrong with talents, you can do ok as shadow or as holy. Its all personal prefrence... and my prefrence/oppinion is holy :p

I haven't decided if i'm gonna do shadow or holy as a secondary talents.
holy ones are negligeble except for like the threat reduction one on heals.

Vonk why wouldn't you go a bit into disciple to at least get the shield timer reduction talent (i forget the name). It rules so much.

heh, alright

meanwhile, I'll keep my groups alive just as well... do a lot more damage... silence casters... leash runners with mind flay... nuke harder, faster, from further out and with less resists... stun mobs on 10% of my nukes... oh, and solo about 11ty billion times easier.

Oh, and... a priest saying "I never travel without a group" is like a hunter saying, "I never travel without a pet."
