best/favourite group makeup, and why

Post by Tikker »

I'm curious what abilties people covet in groupmates

personally, I like:
warrior
hunter
shaman
priest
mage/rogue

I've not had much experience with druids, warlocks and I'm not sure exactly what they'd bring to the table in a "shit's hit the fan" type scenario

I tend to like melee heavy groups over casters, and dps above CC

I'd rather ghetto ae something than worry about controlling mobs

Priest
Warrior

also usually the group we have online=P I'd say mage for warlock but soulstones have saved our asses more times then I can remember...then again the warlock just doesn't have the AE power the mage does.

I don't see much love for high end druids...

What is the general thoughts on this class? I enjoy playing mine and will continue to drive to 60 and he will be my main... but I am curious as to some honest opinions on the class.

One thing I want to know is if he can be a primary healer... I really don't think so. At 27 I still don't feel I have the mana pool, nor a fast casting heal spell to really keep up in the more difficult grouping situations... In other words you must have a priest.

5 paladins with level 80+ assasins in diablo II are prefered.

Yeah because those jumper cables working 5% of the time are reliable right? Your priest will die if you do things your level. Accidents happen.

Priest.
Paladin x 2.
Rogue x 2.

This is the group I'm usually in..doesn't offer much in terms of versatility..but all are good friends so we've had some great times.

Warrior
Priest
Rogue
Druid

Paladin/Hunter/Mage

The last 3 can be interchanged depending upon what we are killing. I like having a druid in the party seeing how they can heal, res, do marginal dps, and offtank if need be. Kind of a jack of all trades, especially when played right. With me being able to Sap and Priests MC ability, CC isn't an issue in BRD/BRS etc. with Druid back up healin.

I found this somewhat odd. If you prefer AE to mob control why not just use mages and get the job done right? A properly dressed mage can pump out solid DPS on single targets and give you the best DPS in the game against multiples.

I was a primary healer with my druid up to 55-ish when I started grouping with priests on a more regular basis. This was without talents or a rez, so it should be easier now. Your mana pool is gear dependant, just like that of other healers, so that's a controllable variable. How you spend your talents will greatly influence your ability to heal, getting a high crit chance on regrowth will help alleviate some of the flash healing issues. For the love of all that is holy, don't burn points in Feral Combat unless you absolutely can't live without them.

The problem with druids is that they will always be a second choice. Even a fully feral-specced druid will be a distant second to a warrior for the tank slot, and given the plethora of superior DPS classes available, there's rarely a need for a druid in that role, which pretty much leaves healing. Of course at that point you're largely left asking yourself... why not simply play a priest? Well, you can't be a giant cow with a bondage fetish (mmm... leather), and be a priest, can you? CAN YOU?!

I didn't think so. So, you've got that going for you.

I'm the opposite, actually...

I prefer caster-heavy groups...

that last ST group I did with Melgoth and Mandor was a lot of fun...

Priest
Mage
Mage
Warrior
Druid

I believe

My favorite as a warrior:

Self
Priest
Druid
Mage
Warlock

Incredibly versatile, and powerful AE, which we seem to be using all too often, despite having only a single mage usually. Most often this is not my group - we generally have a rogue instead of a warlock.
