You're right Mofish... God doesn't exist to you, and I don't blame Him.

This all depends on how you look at god. If you look at god as a vengful diety that punishes those who do not warship him, then he doesn't love them. He sends them to an eternity of suffering.

If you look at god as the loving father of humanity, the creater who loves all of his childreen regardless of what they do, then hell really doesn't exist and he brings everyone into an eternity of his warm embrace. He loves them simply becasue he loves all his creations, he created them so that they could have free will and even if they do things that are not the way he would like, he accepts them. They are exersizing that which he gave them. Much the same way parents love their children even when they do the worst things.

If you dont see there as being a god, well then the question is meaningless.

Using your same logic... we punish our children who disobey us. Why wouldn't our Heavenly Father punish us for disobeying Him?

Judeo-Christian God disproved in a few simple steps:

1. Judeo-Christian God is all-loving, all-knowing, and all-powerful.
2. Suffering occurs.
3. God knows about the suffering, and does nothing = not all-loving
4. God knows about the suffering and cant stop it = not all-powerful
5. God doesnt know about the suffering = not all-knowing

Your faulty 6th grade logic fails at the first step...

I'd like to add I used to think like Mofish did...

Then I turned 12 or so and actually began to THINK more...

The problem with his line of thinking (or lack thereof) is that is only a view of a God thay may or may not exist held by PEOPLE who can be wrong.

If there is a God, or Gods etc...I can guarantee you that every religion on this planet is "wrong" about God or the Gods and their actions (or lack thereof).

If I still hated you, I would say something like, He does, and your parents were bad, and they were punished. But I don't hate you so I wont say it

This is very flawed logic.

1) God is considered to be all-loving, all-knowing and all-powerful.
Many will disagree in some way or another but in a sence thats a generally accepted idea

2) Sufering occuers
We all know this to be true

3) God knows about the suffering, and does nothing = not all-loving
Allowing suffering to accure does not infer not loving. We allow people to make their owm mistakes. This doesn't mean we dont love them. It means we allow them to choose their own path. By not alloing people to take their own paths however would mean god wasn't all-loving.

4) God knows about the suffering and cant stop it = not all-powerful
Also incorrect. God being all powerful, could very well stop it. Its a choice not to stop it, refer to point number 3 on this. He is allowing us to make our own choices. Our choices do at times create suffering not only in us but in others. Others then have free will in how they deal with that suffering.

5) God doesnt know about the suffering = not all-knowing
Also obviously false, god knows suffering. Gid chooses to allow us to make our mistakes.

Now I believe in God and everything, and I'm not going to get into that debate here because we all know where that debate ends up on NT (:dung:) but.. Gidan, you make a good point, but so does Mofish - the flaw in your response to Mofish's flaw is that not all suffering is due to each individual's choice - allowing people to make their own choices results in suffering for uninvolved innocent third parties, often times irreversible suffering. So.. it's great that we can make our own mistakes, but what about those who suffer due to other's mistakes and not their own?
