A wake-up call from Luke's jets

Last Wednesday, at precisely 9:11 a.m., a tight formation of four F-16 jets made a low pass over Arrowhead Mall, continuing west over Bell Road at approximately 500 feet. Imagine our good fortune!

Do the Tom Cruise-wannabes feel we need this wake-up call, or were they trying to impress the cashiers at Mervyns' early-bird special?

On June 15, at precisely 9:12 a.m., a perfectly timed four-ship of
F-16s from the 63rd Fighter Squadron at Luke Air Force Base flew
over the grave of Capt Jeremy Fresques.

Capt. Fresques was an Air Force officer who waspreviously stationed
at Luke Air Force Base and was killed in Iraq on
May 30, Memorial Day.

At 9 a.m. on June 15, his family and friends gathered at Sunland
Memorial Park in Sun City to mourn the loss of a husband, son and
friend.

Based on the letter writer's recount of the flyby, and because of
the jet noise, I'm sure you didn't hear the 21-gun salute, the
playing of taps, or my words to the widow and parents of Capt.
Fresques as I gave them their son's flag on behalf of the president
of the United States and all those veterans and servicemen and women
who understand the sacrifices they have endured.

A four-ship flyby is a display of respect the Air Force pays to
those who give their lives in defense of freedom. We are
professional aviators and take our jobs seriously, and on June 15
what the letter writer witnessed was four officers lining up to pay
their ultimate respects.

The letter writer asks, "Whom do we thank for the morning air show?"

The 56th Fighter Wing will call for you, and forward your thanks to
the widow and parents of Capt. Fresques, and thank them for you, for
it was in their honor that my pilots flew the most honorable
formation of their lives.

The CIA's DO [Directorate of Operations] gave the former ambassador's [Joe Wilson's] information a grade of "good". . . because the information responded to at least some of the outstanding questions in the Intelligence Community, but did not provide substantial new information. He [the reports officer] said he judged that the most important fact in the report was that Nigerien officials admitted that the Iraqi delegation had traveled there in 1999, and that the Nigerien Prime Minister believed the Iraqis were interested in purchasing uranium, because this provided some confirmation of foreign government service reporting. . . .

DIA [Defense Intelligence Agency] and CIA analysts said that when they saw the intelligence report they did not believe that it supplied much new information and did not think that it clarified the story on the alleged Iraq-Niger uranium deal. They did not find Nigerien denial that they had discussed uranium sales with Iraq as very surprising because they had no expectation that Niger would admit to such an agreement if it did exist. The analysts did, however, find it interesting that the former Nigerien Prime Minister said an Iraqi delegation had visited Niger for what he believed was to discuss uranium sales.

Uh, Bush quoted from it in the State of the Union from just before we attacked them, even though it had been discredited as a proven forgery some time earlier. Go look at news reports from around that time, I am sure you can find plenty of references to it.

I am not with Map on disrespecting people who died over there. Lots of them have absolutely no wish to be over there either. I mean, the army forced back officers who had been retired from the service for 10+ years and sent them over. They sent reservists and national guardsman, who never in a million years expected they would ever have to go fight in a war they may well not personally believe in.

Friend of mine is a Air Force reservist, his job is as a Chinook (the big 2-rotor helecopter) pilot. He says that everyone at the base he goes to when he's on duty thinks the war is asinine, and voted against Bush in the last election. Still, the only reason he hasn't been sent yet is that he's a single parent with 2 kids. Even so, he was within a week of going a couple months back. He certainly isn't some gung-ho idiot who's a supporter of the war, so slamming him were he to be forced to go and then died would be incredibly stupid.

correction on that. rechecked my sources on that one. However. it was not he substaniated docuement we used to goto war.
However again I point out

As for you not caring about the deaths of Soldiers you know I have rethought my postion on it. You can go on hating them. Im usre you would have sided with England had you lived 200 plus years ago too..You have a right to treat those soldiers like dirt...thats what they have died in the past to protect. Eh, they're just typical kids who have yet to learn the value of skepticism. They're pretty much parrotting most of the anti-war propaganda without bothering to check its validity. I'd be willing to bet most of their sentiments came, nigh verbatim, from another source.
