So we finally spawned Ragnaros

He's quite the chatty mofaka

looks like a fun encounter, we got him to 73% or so 1st time we saw him, so I think we can get him down once we get some more FR

There's absolutely nothing "fun" about the new encounter. I have no desire to even fight him anymore.

The ridiculous randomness of the encounter is bullshit. Either you get lucky and do well or get unlucky and wipe.

GL with the guy in Silithus (the melee only dude) unless they changed it. I had to solo the guy for a hunter in our guild a few months ago for it and he was a bitch at the time.

yeah, no shit

I took my 1st test runs at all 4 last night

all 4, with no prep, and no spoiler reading seemed like 3/4 were very doable

the guy in slithius is just an open can of whoop ass atm, but I saw a couple things in the combat log that might be worth playing with

Ragnaros is hardly a "luck" fight. It's all about getting people, especially MTs, in good FR gear, and having a good plan for dealing with the Sons of Flame. We just did him the other night with I think only 2-3 deaths, and pretty soon we'll be back to beating him without using any potions. If you're having problems, use a ton of potions. (Troll's blood, Fortitude, *Greater Fire Protection*, etc. Hell, if you can keep the MT alive, use the flask that gives +2000 max HP on him)

He's not that bad, honestly. I think he's a pretty interesting and fun encounter, once you get him down.

yeah, it's definitely not a luck encounter anymore

your tank/melee just need to not suck

(hint: shazzrah is good prep for your MT)

Last few raids we've taken him first try (though only one raid since BWL came out). I wouldn't say it's a luck fight.

it's a luck fight if you don't know how it works

Flame deleted, if you wanna flame me Taxx, you know where. Do it again and risk another suspension / banning or whatever you call it.

We beat him tonight, but it took us two tries. I still don't think luck has much to do with it.

do your non-melee raiders deck themselves out in FR gear? The best we have done since change was something like 42% as we usually lose 5 to 10 in phase 1 for some reason then sons bend us over.

Best we've done is 14%. Hopefully get him tomarrow. We require everyone to have FR pots, 10 per night (of attempts), if not more. We pop a pot at the 2 min warning, then when that wears off we do another. Most of the time it's just the melee and the healers end up using Major Mana pots, but atleast 1 2 mins before the fight. It seems random to me though...We have all our melee spread out so we don't all get flung if he tosses a fireball. Warrior on his own side, etc etc...We usually have 6-7 frost mages too, so we've found AE'ing the sons is the best thing. I've also heard of a guild getting 8 warlocks on one of their raids, Banishing all of the sons, then rags instantly repops and they killed him. Then wiped on sons, rez'd up, looted...Lollers

The more you fight him the easier it gets. The FR question is kinda personal preference; I prefer wearing it because i hate having to heal myself. I know a lot of priests in my guild don't; don't know about mages and others though.

FR pots are the #1 win maker!

All about people knowing how to personally avoid damage and knockbacks.
