Padres traded for Ponson, Randa

San Diego traded Phil Nevin for Sidney Ponson. The deal is pending upon approval by Nevin. The Padres also got Joe Randa from the Reds for 2 minor league pitchers.

I can see why the Padres got Randa. They needed help at third base and Randa is a good fit. But both Ponson and Nevin sucked ass this year. I am kinda surprise that the Orioles traded starting pitching away... they need help at starting pitching.

They need to get rid of Ponson to make room for Burnet, because Ponson has a HUGE contract, and the Fish will only trade Burnet with Mike Lowell, who has an even bigger contract. Basically a move to free up money and get a decent DH.

The Orioles needed to do something quick otherwise they're done. I cant believe they got swept by the Rays.

Good for Nevin, He helped the Pads not make a really bad deal.
