Ephedra coming back?
~stacy
Hmmm....did it actually work or was it another fad?
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.
I went from 200 lbs to 140 in a summer using a product that had ephedra in it.. I'd say it was pretty effective.
I'm of the opinion that the people who died from it were junkies. Too much of anything can kill you - I don't think the drug should be blamed for it. If you over-consume any of the "WOW EPHEDRA FREE!!!1!!!!1one!!!" diet pills out there now, I'm pretty certain it would have the same effect.
People just can't use discretion and sense and over-use thinking it'll make some miracle - that's wherein the problem lies, imo.

Well, they said 155 deaths out of 12 million users. Not terrifically high death rate IMO.

If the numbers are correct. a 0.001% death rate really is nothing. even if 0.01% of the users ODed on it, then only 0.1% of them would have died from it. Granted I am sure the numbers are off to some extent.
Personally I dont see a problem with people taking it in moderation. I personally always prefer the good eating habbits and a good exercise program to any drug.

For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.

I'm going to have to disagree, Drem.. when I was taking it, I was still eating. It isn't like I stopped all together and was doped out all the time. I ate generally 3 times a day - I had to or I was completely drained. I worked full time and was playing on 2 softball teams.. can't just stop eating when you do that.

I think it was ephedra, so here is a story.
My parents were prescribed this back in the late 80's early 90's (I think). Both of my parents are very large people. My Dad lost so much weight, and in a 6 month period, that he looked like a totally different person. People would ask him if he had surgery done or something. He took the pills exactly as described. My mom too. He still ate the same, but not as much. After it was banned, the weight came right back. It does work, and if taken as prescribed there should be very little side effects.
