What's a good website for downloading cell phone extras?

Postby Ciladan » Mon Apr 18, 2005 9:05 pm

My service provider doesn't have a very large selection and I'm looking to download some ringtones and maybe some stupid games. I'm skeptical of these "free" sites (text message spam comes to mind) so I want something that's legit.

Anyone know a good one?

PS: My service provider is Rogers.

freeringtones.com

I've gotten a couple from them, no spam, ringtones delivered. There was one that didnt deliver, but I ran into that problem on Cingulars website too, so freeringtones should work out.

What's more annoying than a cell phone ringing in public?

A cell phone ringing with some witty ring.

Put it on vibrate please. Oh, and don't pick up your phone and talk loundly as soon as the airplane clears the runway. Someday I'm going to snap.

Hear, hear.

I'm not a cell phone guy, and for the longest time I didn't even want one until I was forced to. Even today I blow off 90% of my calls. For some reason I just don't have it in me to blab incessantly, much less in public.

I have a barley audible ring tone that sounds like a mosquito.
"Liberals believe government should take people's earnings to give to poor people. Conservatives disagree. They think government should confiscate people's earnings and give them to farmers and insolvent banks. The compelling issue to both conservatives and liberals is not whether it is legitimate for government to confiscate one's property to give to another, the debate is over the disposition of the pillage."

"RIIIIIING!"

"RIIIIIING!"

Don't mind me. I just hate cell phones. If I didn't have to have one for work/woman, I certainly wouldn't. But I treat it as a tool for me to call other people whenever possible, and most of the time I keep it turned off. My friends are pretty much understanding the fact that if they leave a message, I will get it, and I will call as soon as it's convenient for me.

I also ask whenever I reach someone on their cellphone if it's a good time to talk. Sometimes it's not. They could be anywhere.

I'm just glad as fuck that I didn't have to deal with cellphones in high school and college. It's a bit of a loss of freedom from parents and people I don't want to talk to when I'm drunk.

The only time it bothers me is when I hear a cell phone go off in church, or at the movies. But I can't really get too mad at people for it because a lot of them probably had every intention of turning it off, but just forgot to. Case in point:

About a year and a half ago, I was very against my girlfriend's Christian denomination, the Seventh-Day Adventist church. I talked to my pastor about them, and read up on them every night for weeks on end. I even talked to the pastor at my girlfriend's church because I had a lot of questions for him. I asked him to come to my (now old) church on Sunday, since he taught on the Sabbath, and had Sundays off, and I wanted to get his opinion about the other pastor's sermon, and the way the service was held.

Anyway, we were in the 3rd row center and his cell phone started ringing in the middle of the other pastor's sermon. He was fumbling around trying to get it out of his pocket really fast, and then he dropped the phone and it landed under the chairs in front of us, so he had to go up to that next row to get it and finally turn it off. He turned beet-red. I could tell he was soooooo embarrassed. He had about a thousand people all staring at him. Finally, a few people around us laughed, and the pastor up on the sanctuary started laughing too. It rang like a total of 6 times before he finally got to it.

Poop happens. We need to be more tolerant of other people's innocent mistakes.

I witnessed an old man at church fart so loud you could literally hear it bouncing of the walls. No one even flinched. :dunno:

while i agree it is important to be tolerant of people's innocent mistakes, if that pastor had his phone on vibrate-only there never would have been a problem :)

I really only have my phone on audio if I'm at home or in public if I don't have pockets. It's the Zelda theme. Most people are amused and nostalgic when they hear it.

And that's exactly my point. He usually does put his cell phone in stealth mode, but he had forgotten to do it in this instance. It was not intentional on his part to leave the phone in ring mode.

My boss has a recording of her kids screaming, "PICK UP THE PHONE MOMMY! PICK UP THE PHONE!! HAHAHAHA" For her ring tone. She has a 5 and an 8 year old girl. Very shrill voices. And it is set to obnoxiously loud, too. It's great, because I work in an office where 99% of the work is done over the phone, so I crack up having to hear the employees explain to the client what the hell they just heard when it goes off while they're on the phone.

My boss actually left her phone behind at the private catholic school her kids go to when she picked them up from dance class. As she told us the next day, the church people got quite a fright when it was all quiet in the building and all the sudden they hear screaming voices, "PICK UP THE PHONE MOMMY!!!!..."
