If he is only getting engaged and waiting a few years I see no problem with this.

I mean it's the cool thing to do, marry and then divorce.

But the divorce will hurt him more considering he is the man and the man is obviously the sole bread winner.

Which is a fairly normal age to enter in to a long engagement. I don't exactly want to be having kids after I'm 30, and I don't want my entire married life to be saddled with kids. I've loved her for nearly a decade now, and I really have no qualms about this.

and I'm not going to be the sole bread winner, I wouldn't actually be surprised if she ends up out earning me.

I don't know man...

I hear the dating scene is pretty good in the low 30s. At that age you're confident, have a little money in your pocket and the girls are down to party baby.

Lyion, what say you!?

Women should earn more than men, they spend more as a general rule why shouldnt they earn their keep? And since the whole barefoot and pregnant thing is no longer PC they need to have some use.

Seriously dude, Marriage is the kiss of death, the death of your social life, the death of your sex life, the death of any dreams you may still harbor, trust me, shack up until she turns 40 then trade her in for two twenty's

lol Sarth, dont defend your relationship, it makes you come off as weak and insecure, as anyone does who needs to defend their real lives.
Take Harrison for example. Or Mindia.

Love you Harri <3

Buy her a ring and don't look back.

I'm not going to try to talk anyone out of getting married, but the dating scene in the low 30's (I'm 32) is outstanding. Less games, more quality, zero pressure.

I could never see myself married again...or even living with a woman.

Go for it man, dont let people talk you out of it. You know where you are more then anyone here possibly could. If its what you want to do, go for it.

The dating scene in the 30s indeed is great. However don't pass up 'it', unless you arent ready for it, or are recovering from living through ones 20s withIT

Since we were 14...though I'm not naive enough to think that I understood love at that age. We've known each other since we were four though.

Why the rush to get married. Granted I proposed after only 20 months or so, but we had been living together most of that, aaaaand I was 29. Get engaged and set a date for late 2007.

It's two years away at the bare minimum, it'll likely not be until 2008 or 2009.

I'm 26 and have just recently started thinking about marriage. I guess I just never had the right person in my life until now. It's something we can even talk about together without either one freaking out. We both make little comments here and there about what 'our kids' will be like.

I think that if we do get married and have kids we will be having twins+, it's her generation in her family on both her dads side and her moms side. =/

I'll be honest: I think it's pretty romantic that you've known each other since such a young age and have decided to tie the knot. Good for you!

(This is coming from an unhitched 29 year old, btw)

Marriage can be a good or bad thing. It completely depends on the people involved. To each his own.

It's good you've known each other for 10 years before hand. That sure beats the people who get married after a 6 month fling then wonder why it fails 2 years later. It's also good to hear what seems like you're getting married out of love and not something *else.*

If everything you've said thus far is on the up and up, and I don't know why it wouldn't be... been together for 10 years, in love with eachother... I'm sure it'll work out great. But, only you two know for sure.
