that's why communism generally doesn't work

If everyone has exactly the same ideals, and goals, it would work np

but once you have dissenting opinions, you have to have a way to settle disputes, and choose the best solution

the problem is that pretty much 100% of the time so far, someone grabs power via the barrel of a gun, and keeps it, and you end up with a dictatorship, not a communist society

Thus, communism ends up being evil.

Granted thats circular logic, but it seems to always be the same circle.

History and logic rarely go hand and hand. I would say the the behvior of people rarely follows a logical path.

The result of Marxist based regimes is always the same. It's like bringing up Bush and Diekan in a thread. There is only one result.

Except that it's not communism that ends up being evil, it's a dictatorship that may or may not be evil.

Maybe, Ganzo. Power corrupts. Absolute power likewise.

Thus, the best form of Government we currently have is one with checks and balances to limit it.

It's not perfect, but realistically its as good as it gets right now.

the problem I have with the current system (in canada/usa) is that lots of times it ends up a popularity contest, rather than voting for the person best suited for the job

that being said, I have no idea how to correct the situation

So it really comes down to people are evil not communism itself.

Like they say, our system is the worst one available except for all the others. The real genious of the U.S. Constitution is that it fundamentally assumes that humans are avaricious, power hungry bastards. Exploiting this assumption and ensuring that human greed works to benefit the system was perhaps the most significant achievement of the framers.

Nah, we needed to up military spending, project imperialism, and piss off the French. The Iraq War accomplished all three so was a resounding success.

Every time I think about the war in Iraq, I can't help but remember the Dead Kennedys song, "Kinky Sex Makes the World Go Round". If you don't know it, go listen to it, and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

Uh... what word? You? Say? This? In? Jest? But? It's? Pretty? Much? Spot? On?

Which? I'm pretty sure I know what each of those words means.

I like the noises the brittish prime minister makes throughout the whole thing. Funny stuff.

Dead Kennedys was really cool --- its too bad Jello Biafra was a political idiot. I can't believe I fell for that crap, lol. But hey, it helped make me much more of a free thinker, so I can't complain. *tips hat to jello*
