Here Mgube, you've caused mass death and destroyed your GNP but we don't like starvation so heres a bunch of money! Problem solved...we can now say we've done all we can and pat ourselves on the back.

'Poverty' is only one aspect of the vicious cycle of decay that a number of sub-Saharan nations are in, with inadequate capital to grow their economies. And the risk of war over limited resources was manifested in the Congo.
Beyond the geopolitical aspects, there is, you know, a moral question.
And as to terrorism, I can't quite see the relevance of Iraq. As you might have said, 'issue did not correspond to threat'. Iraq wasn't involved in al Qaeda or 9/11.
The 'Downing Street Memo' clearly shows Bush and Co. had decided to invade Iraq well in advance, and then made up reasons to convince the people it was justified.
And they've bungled Iraq horribly, from the simple decision to invade with inadequate force to the torture in Abu Ghraib and Gitmo having done immeasurable damage to the US around the world.

And I said that where?
Cripes people, y'all bitch at my statements but I haven't seen one solution!
Answer the question. How do you propose to stop starvation?

This is because most Americans like to think of themsevles as the best. The only reason they can see people disliking us is either because they want to be us or they have done something to anger us.
The fact is many dont like us becasue of the actions of the country.
How do you propose to stop starvation?

No, the Downing Street memo doesn't clearly show any such thing. it demonstrates the desire and capability to invade Iraq. The U.S. has contingency plans for the invasions of a great many nations established. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Politicians establishing misleading reasons for military deployment shouldn't come as much of a surprise either. I'm sure history buffs out there will have a vague recollection of a man named Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
