And the same selective media outlets are waving flags and claiming it to be a huge success.

Pick and choose, Xao.

A lot of people who are there have come back and said it was pretty fucked up.

Well, not the same outlets, but I wouldn't put much faith in any given source of news, be they conservatively or liberally biased.

Of course it's fucked up. It's a war. There's still been a tremendous amount of progress, both civilly and militarily over the past year.

I am not talking about a peaceful march. I am talking about a Jefferson-style overthrow of our fucking government. We could have a rally commemorating the dead. We could physically restrain any youngsters who are interested in joining the military. We could beat off in the shower and neglect to give a shit. In regard to the war in Iraq, I will take the latter option. It seems like a lot of my life was spent trying to stop this war before it started and after it started. Great thought, I think it really sums it up, war is always fucked up, but you can't deny the progress either.

That's not anti-American, it's reality.

I usually keep my political opinions too myself since this place has become a cesspool of ignorant "patriots" such as yourself.

The ignorance of people like you is killing discourse all over the world. Now fuck off and die of cancer, shitface.

Where did I imply I talked to anyone?

Just because you would rather it not be the case, doesn't mean they don't exist, Goose. A lot of soldiers are coming back and talking about things not being as El Presidente would like you do believe.

Blame the liberal media if you want. It’s what you guys always do instead of accepting that dose of personal responsibility you’re always talking about.

I have a lot of buddies still in Iraq, came home, and or going again. All of them say fuck the media and what they are saying about what’s going on they don’t have a clue. You see, I'm getting my info right from the mouth of the fighting men and women of the US. Where are you getting your leet beta infoz?

WOW all your meathead military republican friends think the media has it all wrong?

That really surprises me.

How can you deny some people who have served and have come home think Iraq has been totally fucked up?

You can go ahead and trivialize their view point if you want, but they exist.

Goose -

Here's how you do it. Take whatever your opinion is and then just add the following line to it:

"Everyone knows that ..."

or you can also use:

"A lot of people think ..."

It instantly makes your opinion the TRUTH. See, here's an example:

Take the statement "Zanchief likes to take it up the ass." Add the "Everyone knows that ..." to it and you get GOLD!

Everyone knows that Zanchief likes to take it up the ass.

Instantly you have an unassailable position statement... because, you know, EVERYONE agrees with you simply because you have stated such.

Yet you have taken a statement that is not common knowledge.

Although Republicans have it so wrong they could argue the sky is red, leaving the rest of logical world to say, but of course it isn't everyone knows that.

It's not an indictment of me that such a poor argument can be trumped by simply pointing out that EVERYONE knows it's wrong.

I watched Kingdom of Heaven last night... What we really need is Zombie King Richard and the Undead Knights of the Round table to go storm Jerusalem and rule the middle east with an iron fist and a hefty amount of barrels filled with wenches.

WTF dude. You are saying that the same meathead military republicans are coming back and saying it’s all fucked up. Right you did say that A LOT of SOLDIERS are coming back and voicing these opinions right?

I've asked you 2 fucking times now is the 3rd time. Who the fuck are the LOTS of people coming back and saying that it’s all fucked up?

I can think of maybe TWO fighting men and women who think its dicked up then the media throws them all over TV saying SEE OUR MEN AND WOMEN OVER THERE SAY ITS REAL BAD. Which is a farce. I would grantee if you did a large poll of the American Military force in Iraq the VAST majority would tell you and your circle jerk of friends to go fuck them selves.

So basically what you are telling me is that you don’t know what the fuck you are talking about.

One or two soldiers who are mad at the military and the government because they actually had to fulfill there military commitment and didn’t get a free ride to college obviously speak for the whole US military right?

On top of that you will listen to them bitch and moan because it supports what you want to believe but when a large group of fighting men and women say that its going well and its a good thing we are there you just ignore them because it doesn’t support your anti-Bush agenda.

Come on man pull your head out of your ass I know you’re smarter than you let on.

I gotta admit, at this point I'm wondering where you're getting your information from too, Zan. I've been fairly heavily exposed to the opinions of those who've served in Iraq, and the overwhelming weight of opinion is that we're doing good work. Sure, there are those who dissent, but they're the vast majority, despite what some media outlets would have you believe. There are people who believe that electrons orbit an atom's nucleus like planets in a solar system too. Mere existence doesn't impart validity.

Labelling military members as meatheads and Republicans is a gross generalization. I'm not sure if you're aware of the educational statistics, but every officer has at least one degree, and most of the NCOs are either in college or have graduated. The political spectrum is more varied than civilians seem to assume.

I don't discredit the opinions of the majority of the military (even though I made fun of your meathead friends) just like you shouldn’t discredit the many (yes more than 2 or 3) people who disagree with yours.

My point wasn't that the situation was fucked up or that it was super peachy keen. My point was that Xao claimed we, as civilians, are not able to formulate a proper opinion since we weren't there. I just pointed out that the opinion of those who where wasn't universal.

Take it as a slight against your government if you want, but that wasn't my point.

I wasn't referring to all military members as meatheads, just Gooses friends~
