Stings for awhile, lots of pressure, but really, not something that will stick in my mind forever.

That's because you are female. We tend to have lots worse pain in our lives... fuck childbirth, can you say episiotomy?

Oh please - like a woman gets an episiotomy without at least a local anesthetic. Child birth has become a non-issue ... it's a little pressure and the feeling you need to take a shit (according to the ex-wife) when you have your epidural.

Try having appendicitis. They don't give you an epidural for that till they're ready to cut it out... many hours later.

Funny you assume to know :) When my mother had her second child they did not have time to give an anesthetic, they just razored the poor woman. Not everyone has the luxery of time on their hands.

I'll admit, the toughest part of the whole child birth for me was when they took the catheter out. My peepee place burned for a long while.
I never had a contraction. At least I dont think so. I was a scheduled csection so I went in and was hooked to an IV. They wheeled me into the OR and sat me up for the spinal. Numbed the site up and went to town with the poking. I told them it wasnt numbed enough but they said OK! and kept rooting around my spine. Well my leg jerked after they hit a nerve (big jerk) and they stopped and laid me down, soaping my tummy up, throwing a catheter in.
Hours later, it was time for the pee tube to come out. It was no gentle process. It was basically "Bite your lip and get ready. 1-2-3!*yank*"

I forgot my original point. Oh yeah, jsut because we have anesthesia, morphine (which I am addicted to when I am in a hospital), vicodin and the such, doesnt mean childbirth doesnt hurt. Took me a month to be able to sit up straight from the surgery.

when you have your epidural.

Not to mention I don't want to be paralyzed from the waist down when I have a child, what if something goes wrong... talk about feeling helpless. I know many women that feel the same way. Besides - if you have a tattoo on your lower back, no epidural for you, natural childbirth bitches! (Unless they have changed anything, before they would not do it because of something to do with the ink.)

Fuck natural childbirth...gimme the drugs!

Labor HURTS and it feels neverending, just wave after wave of pain.

Just across the lower back or anywhere in the area? My friend has a tattoo on the lowerback/upper hip area of her back, on the right hand side, and she got an epidural. Was it because it didnt' cover her spine?

Maeya, only if the tattoo covers your spine where the injection site is.
