If you think it's cool that the largest employer in the country and the most profitable business on the planet needs your tax dollars to provide health insurance for it's employees, you are fucked in the head.

Maryland passed a law that stated businesses that had over x amounts of employees had to provide bennies. Wal-mart was the only company that qualified for the new law. It's a bullshit law and I wouldn't blame Wal-mart if they closed up shop and left the state.

They are now challenging all the bad press they get for not offering bennies by this new statement to Governors. It's all really a PR ploy...they don't expect states to do jack but they can say they tried to work something out while the Governors can bemoan Wal-marts lack of feeling for its employees.

It is a total PR ploy.

The bill is complete pandering and political bullshit. Wal Mart is evil, blah, blah, blah but it doesn't change the simple fact this is a shortsighted political manuevre.

Nobody seems to be interested in the ridiculous costs of healthcare coverage, while companies such as UGH and Aetna clear 10 billion in pure profit on our dime.

I absolutely believe in fair and equitable business practices, but controlling business in a demagogue fashion versus allowing libertarian means is not a good idea.

Nobody is forced to work at Wal Mart, and state governments can pass whatever health care laws and plans they want. Creating a law to attack a company that brings in a large amount of private revenue, solely to capitulate to organized labor is complete rubbish.

nah if he was a Brit he'd tell us all to sod off and live on the dole.

You try and poke holes in the argument whilst ignoring what o'le Lee was sayin. He was speakin to the governors conference. He wants us to pay for their heathcare, it's fairly plain. Do you really think Wal Mart gives a fuck what Maryland does? No not at all.
