I saw a commerical for it last night, I don't know what show it was on as I was just coming home from work and was making my way to my computer room as it was on.

I'll never even try the stuff I can't stand the tase of anything that has coffee in it. Just never have liked it, and I've tried all the moca frappa iced differnt things out there, if it's got a hint of coffee flavor I can't stand it. It doesn't help that I'm a Pepsi fan to boot.

Given that I'm allergic to coffee, and eating even small amounts makes me violently ill (serious projectile vomiting), I think I'm going to avoid it. Hopefully, it isn't doesn't become too popular, as even the smell of coffee makes me nauseous. I honestly can't even walk inside a Starbucks without feeling seriously sick to my stomach, it's that bad. So, anything that has even MORE people consuming coffee is a Bad Thing.

I found this at Target today but did not buy it. Sounds like a flop but the coffee drinkers will decide that.

Here's a review from Bevnet.com:

BevNET Review:
Welcome to 1996, Coca-Cola. Maybe we're having a bad case of deja-vu, but this product is reminiscent of the coffee-cola fad that hit the industry ten years ago.

If, back in 1996-97, you ever tried Pepsi Kona, Java Cola, or Cafe Cola this product will definitely have some nostalgia value -- and it will likely remind you why those products all failed in the end. If you are new to coffee-cola, you'll probably wonder why Coke decided to take diet cola -- which isn't exactly known for its smooth aftertaste -- and combine it with coffee extract.

The taste of the product is enjoyably sweet and creamy, but the aftertaste is somewhat brutal, with bitter flavors of coffee and aspartame left behind. This being said, Coke Blak is a concoction that will likely appeal to consumers who chase their morning coffee with a mid-morning Diet Coke. Beyond that, it will probably be a curiosity or novelty buy. Judging by the glass packaging -- something that Coke generally reserves for "collectible" products -- we think that Coke knows this as well.

There's also the issue of the branding, which we think will be confusing for people that aren't in the industry. The name "Blak" and its tagline ("carbonated fusion beverage") don't give the consumer any sense of what this is and the word "coffee" is hidden deep in the fine print of the ingredients label.

On the positive, this product seems to have a much lower risk of cannibalization than prior cola-based extensions. This may generate some media buzz and help consumers find it, but we don't think that the flavor and brand are strong enough to generate lasting volume that will be material to Coke.

sweet-looking bottle. A+ for that aspect.

i don't get the spelling, though... is it to be pronounced "blake," with a long A?

if so that's dumb. if not they're dumb. hehehe

but ya, i'll try it once just out of curiousity.

It all started out as us having a monsoon in Dallas (serious flooding, closed highways) on Sunday. Then Monday I stayed at my moms all day and caught the plague and needed the help watching our daughter while I ran to the bathroom to puke. Tuesday I was still ill so I stayed at my mommy's.

Don't ever come to Marysville, OH then.

The Nestle R&D plant here roasts their own coffee beans and the smell permeates the west side of town for hours some days.

Hey Ralf! I found our newest weekend sport! Lets chain arlos up in the backyard and flick coffee beans at him. First one to send him into anaphalactic shock wins 50.00. We can tell him we need him for a debate or something. He will never know!

crazy

the smell of freshly ground beans, and brewing coffee is one of my favourite things

there's not much better than waking up saturday morning, and smelling fresh coffee, bacon frying wafting in from the kitchen

a) because it smells good
b) it means I don't have to cook breakfast ;)
