Morality is a fine example of natural selection. People outcast those who do not meet society's standards. If it's true that people follow laws out of fear, then it is also true that fear originates from society's external constraints. People empower the gods. Gods do not empower the people. Please be a bit more responsible when crediting your chosen deity.

A Christian myth is a religious story that Christians consider to have deep explanatory or symbolic significance.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_mythology
Mythology refers to a collection of stories about a people, usually concerning their origin, history, deities, ancestors, and heroes behind the belief structure and faith.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_and_mythology
"Mythological representations have been neither invented nor freely accepted. The products of a process independent of thought and will, they were, for the consciousness which underwent them, of an irrefutable and incontestable reality. Peoples and individuals are only the instruments of this process, which goes beyond their horizon and which they serve without understanding."

So people who serve without understanding not only makes you smarter but also grants a balanced conscience?

I'm terribly confused by your statements. Sorry in advance for my misunderstanding. Please clarify - wtb kei

The idea of going to "hell" frightens people into obeying commands set forth by "The Church". Since the governments have taken control of the world, they still use religion to control the people, but there isn't as much of it as there used to be. This is why the world is in sorry shape. If they would have never lied to us to begin with then perhaps mankind would be at a different place in time.

And no, being overly religious does not make you smarter, college does. But yes, it gives you a conscience without question. I have a conscience which is self-made since the day my bible school teacher told me that Adam and Eve lived before the dinosaurs.

I realize that my speaking on this matter will make me some perma-enemies on this board. But that is ok. I am willing to take that risk to speak my mind. Life is full of tough choices. Just so you people know, my opinion on religion has nothing to do with how I feel about you. And Mindia, you already knew my opinion on religion.

Realize that this idea of going to hell was created by man. All laws where created by man. Some will say that these laws where originally designed by a divine creator. That still does not get around the fact that man enforces and spreads its word.

Let me first state that god knows all, he is totally good, and he exists. If that is true then explain how would he be able to create adam knowing full well he would turn to sin. Some will try to impliment freewill into this arguement, but I'll object to that as this is a point in time before adam even existed. He knows all so he created something that would turn to sin, he is totally good so he cannot create evil, and he is the creator.

Bitch your fuckin smokin rocks. Ill break it down real simple for you. How many times in history can you think of a bunch of athiests goin nuts and killing ever nigga they see. Now same thing only this time lets think about how many times we can think of that a bunch of CHRISTIANS or MUSLIMS killed every nigga they saw?

Sure you can use fear of god to make people obay...... but you simple retarded bitch THE MAN can also invoke the name of god to make people kill. Do you know any athiests or agnostics ? Do you know any christians ? Most of the time it goes like this athiests treat others how they wanan be treated and tend to wanna be left alone. Christians tend to judge and use god to justify any radical thing they come up with.

People need to beleive in god to obay the man ... thats some of the biggest bullshit ive ever seen
