I seem to always have that "rare" side effect. Like complete loss of appetite and (I think) hallucinations on my happy pill, no weight gain or mood swings on depo.
If you want low hormone and light period and a weight neutral birth control, ask about Minera (Mirena?). It's an implanted birth control that lasts 3 years, I think. That's my next choice after my depo shot this week.
I dont trust the patch, I forget pills, and I am not sticking my fingers all the way up my hooha for nonpleasurable purposes to put birth control up there myself. So implanted BC is a good choice for me
I have an ex who used that and it worked quite well actually.

My wife turned into a total twat when she was on BC. She cannot take anything with hormones in it, it just throws her whole system out of wack. So for a long time it was the pull out and aim method which is like playing craps and very irresponsible and boy were we lucky to not strike it rich. I love kids and I love my niece and nephew but we've discovered that if we had even one kid who is as hyper as I am/was she would probably kill herself and cut off my penis. LOL

Depo put me into a depression. I also kept spotting all the time...sucked.

you remember when we were all teenagers who could get away with using rubbers?
ok maybe that was just me
The IUD (Mirena, at least) is one of the only birth controls that has 0 weight gain/loss attached to it. If it's Mirena she's on, I highly doubt it has anything to do with her lack of ability to lose weight.
Mirena lasts 5 years btw Darc, the copper one lasts up to 12. And the real beauty of Mirena, after 6 months something like 3 out of 5 women stop having their period entirely until the thing is removed =p Now that, thats something to celebrate ! Oh and Darc, the bleeding thing is similar to if you're just starting bc kinda like Seasonale where you skip the sugar pills at the end of each month and go straight to the next packet.. it's just very minimal breakthrough bleeding, not a period
