The civilian militia was the only part that made me exclaim "WHAT?" during the whole thing. But generally, for the rest, I was making something close to this face :ugh:

Ends ends? Oh no, much longer. I give it within the first year of the new (Democratic) president to pull out a significant number though. And to stop calling it a "war".

Dems are paying off Osama and co. to lay low so they can secure an easy win in 08' and be the heroes for pulling out troops in the upcoming year(s).

Then in 2016 when everyone is sick of the Dem control, a Rep will take the white house, and the Dems will contract Osama into another attack on the US so they can blame the new Rep guy (or gal!) and have another easy win in 2020.

It all makes so much sense!!! They're coming to take me away ha ha, ho ho, he he!!

I think the civilian militia thing was a sort of army-reserve-esque arrangement for skilled workers who could come in to do jobs in Iraq when/if needed (ie, translators, people to help set up water/power, whatever)... At least in how he briefly described it. Seems benign, but I wouldn't touch it with a 20 foot pole. Those Bush fellas are really sneaky guys and would probably hand you a rifle and say "HAHAHA FOOLED YOU!" ;O

Funny how the liberally-biased media outlets were saying, "I can't wait to hear what Bush is going to try to sell us with this speech" and Bush ends up getting standing ovations and cheers that almost made the roof collapse.

were you watching the same speech I was? 3/4 of the crowd sat when he started talking about Iraq and his bullshit troop surge.

the best part of the whole waste of time was the democratic response. hopefully it isnt just talk and they actually stand up to the dipshit and hold him responsible

Have you ever really seen a State of the Union address that there was not clapping etc.? There are certain pauses in speeches where people clap regardless. I did notice quite afew people not standing and clapping wich was odd for this. Democrat, or Republican on these speeches for TV they use noise enhancing techniques that make it sound louder, than if you were there.

Yeah, you're right. It's a conspiracy to make Bush's speech appear more powerful than it actually was.

No, it was not a consipiracy directed at Bush at all. But these state of the Union addresses are used to reasure the american people as a whole, Democratic or Republican (not just Bush). There is nothing gained if people do not sound enthuesed, or clap loudly, it can show signs of division between the masses. For the large majority of the American people the illusion of both parties standing side by side clapping is important, to reassure people watching subconsciously.

By boosting these 2 things (acoustics, noise), it can be percieved to be more favorable to people watching. Messing with Acoustics in building and turning up mics to catch crowd noise has been around for a very long time man. Quit thinking that everyone is out to just get Bush.

He got standing ovations for a couple things. But for the most part, it was the Repubs standing and the Dems giving curtousy golf claps, seated.
