odd I was thinking the same thing. I just do not like being labeled as something I do not believe I am. If you want say I am prejudiced about certain parts of certain races fine. But to say I totally hate a specific race is extreme. I spent 4 years on a submarine where just about every race and culture was shown. Muslim,(yes we had 3) Jew(quite a few), Hispanic, black Caucasian, Eurasian, one Cuban one Malyasian, and one Samoan. I to this day consider them all brothers, and till you spend that much time wrapped up in peoples lives and their ways of life do you realize that race does not matter. Only when people do not preform to the expectations of the others in our society do you single them out.

We used slang words between us not as anything more than mocking the stereo types of those out side of our living conditions. We knew who we were and still do. I get calls and emails from some of my military buddies, racial mocking is still standard between us for the main reason that it does not matter.

I dont consider half of the shit people do or say as anything more then themselves placing stereotypes on a whole group of people. When a boom car with bling and some kid with his pants down to the crack of his ass steps out yes the phrase niggered up is one that I use. Not because I am racist but because that is a term for it.

Words are just that, words. They only mean something when people such as your selves push those labels onto people.

20 years ago Negro was acceptable for a word for a black person. They did not care, but suddenly some nutjob that thought the word was bad became offensive. And all of the sudden use that word in Cabrini Green or Queens and you will get shot.

Indians take offense to being called indians. They prefer being called by their tribe name. that has not changed, however people like you still do it. Can you tell the difference between one trib and the next? Prolly not.

When you ask most indians what nationality they are most will say "I am Blackfoot' or I am "Comanche' they dont say. Im an indian. however the term indian is offensive to most of them but you still do it.

Depends on the person. I had a professor not long ago for a history class who was from the Arapaho tribe. He said his preference was for American Indian. Said that was especially the preference for use in legal cases, as there was a definite subconscious advantage to being referred to as an "American-something". So, dislike for the term "Indian" is hardly universal.

I can also assure you that the friends I have who happen to be arab or persian would be pretty offended at being referred to as "A Towelhead".
