Good deal depending on the games I guess.

I got my 360 premium through one of those online fill out 10 "offers" and get a free 360 deals. It ended up costing me somewhere between $40 and $80, I forget how much exactly and about an hour of my time.

I wonder how many of those refurbs they are selling are ticking time bombs of the red rings of death.

Although, to be honest, I've had my 360 for over a year and not had any issues at all.

Considering there are millions of 360's out there, most people have had zero problems with their consoles.

i've got 20+ games sitting there collecting dust, so trading them for a console makes more sense than anything

I wouldnt mod my 360 if you are going on live. They have excellent detection scripts and are banning modded 360s from live for life. Also all 360's now have a 3 year warranty, so even if you do get a dud, your only out the 2 to 3 weeks it takes them to fix it. I have all 3 systems and the 360 get the majority of my attention. If you get a ps3 or 360 make sure you keep them in a well ventilated area. The ps3 in particular puts out about 5X more heat than my pc.

I really don't see myself as much of a xbox live gamer, so that doesn't really strike me as an issue

You'd be surprised. I don't join in any public games but it's a blast to host private games for you and your friends. Plus, you miss out on the arcade (which kicks ass IMO) and all the downloadable media.

Ya banned from live means no downloadable content, movies, arcade, and I read that you dont even get game/dashboard updates any more (Haven't found any official confirmation of this).
