Walsh didn't single handedly come up with his offence, he was the guy who put the best implementation of it into the NFL tho
Not arguing that at all. I am sure there were many people that attempted some form of that offense. I am not saying otherwise. But the fact that Walsh's actual scheme completly changed the way defenses prepared for a team is not debatable.
Hell it was first used by the chargers in the '60s but it didnt come with as much success. Walsh's version of it is what is now used widely in football (or some hybrid).
I mean there were plenty of people in history trying to make an airplane, But you do not get credit unless it actually worked correctly. Walsh's "airplane" worked. Worked so well in fact teams adopted new ways of thinking about defense and how to handle it.
Now, that aside back to the original point. Rule changes in the NFL did not make the West coast offense work.
