Anyway, as an alumni, it pisses me off to no end. Oh... hey... you're done TWO scores. There's 50 seconds left on the clock. You have one time out left. So what does Callahan decide to do? Run the clock out. RUN THE CLOCK OUT.
THAT is piss poor coaching.
Another problem with the D is their lack of tackling. I saw, on numerous occasions, players bouncing off USC receivers and backs. It works a LOT better when you actually wrap your arms around them...
As for Carol, yeah he's a did dickweed, BUT I can understand why he kept his first string on the field. You're bidding for a NC spot, you're trying to hold your number one spot... meanwhile you got LSU and Oklahoma steam rolling everyone they play.... it's best to put up all the points you can. I probably would have done the same thing.
As for USC, I believe Nebraska is the only ranked team they face/faced this year (like always they have a pussy schedule), so unless they get beat by UCLA, and taking into account how much the BCS loves them - they'll be in the national championship this year.
let me explain
yeah, i did go there. but while i was there, i became pretty disgusted with how players were treated like royalty. full ride scholarships, local celebrity status, steak and lobster for every meal, no jobs, easy classes they a) didn't even go to half the time and b) got free tutoring in order to pass, and off-field behavior that made them very poor role models for the thousands of kids (and grownups) looking up to them all over the state. meanwhile, though i did have an academic scholarship, i was eating the same mystery-meat-and-rice in the cafeteria every day, struggling to pay rent and bills (no TV!) with a part time job, and parking off-campus because i couldn't afford a parking tag. i took hard classes, i got docked for absenteeism, and i didn't get any free tutors. so during my time there and for a long time after, i pretty much hated the NU football program. fast forward to a couple years ago, when i moved in with a friend who had cable TV-- the first time i'd had cable TV since i was in college. one saturday i was bored, so i flipped on the tele and surfed around the football games. i got into a few, so i did the same the next couple of saturdays, and of all the dozens of teams i watched, i found that i most enjoyed watching the Red Raiders, due to their run-and-gun air raid style of offense. they had an okay year, and ended up in the Insight Bowl (lol) with minnesota, which wasn't even on cable so i had to watch it in a sports bar. they went down 31 points by halftime, and all the people i had sweet-talked into coming down to watch left except one. finally, about halfway through Q3, tech kicked on the afterburners and torched the gophers' D for 35 points and the win, posting the single greatest bowl comeback in NCAA football history-- and cementing them as my favorite team. i catch a lot of hell for it lmao
and yes, the huskers need to go back to tackle school.
oregon is looking pretty sharp this year, i'm hoping they give USC a good stomping
