The 49er's highly praised offensive machine was totally abused by the Bears' defense. Even the great Joe Montana seemed a little shell shocked after taking seven sacks and running for his life all game long. The final score was 26-10 in favor of the Bears, but the game was never really that close.

With the weapons of today's Pats... the 85 Bears would get destroyed. New England was using a back up, back up, back up, back up RB and STILL getting into the Cowgirl's secondary. Never mind Moss and the rest of the weapons.
Pats of 07 against the Bears of 85 would be like an F22 Raptor against a kite.
Collensworth HATES NE, so for him to make that statement does carry some merrit.

As for if that 49ers team played this edition of the Pats, the 49ers would cream them. You think Moss would be anywhere near as eager to go up and get that ball after he got steamrolled by one of Lott's monster hits, knowing Moss's fragile psyche? I think not. Not to mention, I'm pretty confident that Walsh could've coached the pants off of Belichek. Plus the 49ers had star-caliber players at pretty much every single position, because they COULD. The Cap wasn't in place yet, so teams with deep pockets could completely stack the field, and the 49ers had VERY deep pockets.
Now, if you want to say that the Pats are the greatest team of the Cap era, I might buy that. But greatest team ever? Not a chance.
