I have been playing a lot of CoD4 over winter break and upon returning to school I have found that I regularly ping 200-500 while playing from my apartment. I tested on CS and CS:S and my pings are never over 100. I think that this is closed port issue with the network as I have tested 28960 (cod4 port) with several fast online port checkers and they all report that the connection was refused. Could there be anything else causing this lag?
I was going to call the tech guys later today and ask if they would be able to open the port for me but I have a sneaking suspicion that they won't. Any suggestions, I want to play .
